Itâs painful to say, but what a disappointing experience, especially following the rave reviews. There is no question that the food is nice: fresh, homemade and fragrant. It is however by no means extraordinary and some dishes are overly sweet, saturated in what could be cinnamon. The first main issue is the service. The waiter/owner very much enjoys the sound of his own voice and his constant forced laughter as he goes around tables tediously explaining the menu will give you a migraine. Let the food speak for itself, no one needs a lecture on a prawn salad. As a result of this incessant patter service is extremely slow, it is ludicrous to have to wait over half an hour for the privilege of ordering a drink after sitting down. Which brings us to the second issue: the markup on drinks is scandalous. Their wine is from next door, so I would suggest going there instead of letting them fleece you. Perhaps the owner could drop this fake bonhomie shtick and leave his sister do the service and talking as she is clearly the one with interpersonal and customer-facing skills. This will give him time to sit down and have a good long think about whether his pricing tactics are justifiable...
