Aside from the fact that it is conveniently located a minute away from the SNCF train station, it also has a wonderful ambiance. I quite liked the retro-decour of the restaurant which had a nostalgia to it. I also loved the wall displays where they showed photographs and equipments of different sports. My favorite was the one with the cricket bat (obviously).
Food: The dishes served here was a tad bit on the expensive side for me since I've had the same dishes at a cheaper cost elsewhere. Nevertheless, the dishes were good and I enjoyed it. The only thing I want to point out is that the dish 'Royal Welsh' was a bit too mustardy or it had a lot of wasabi (I'm not sure if it contained wasabi or mustard!).
Service: I had to wait around 20 minutes before getting a seat on an Monday evening and 20 more minutes to get my food. But mind you - I didn't had any prior reservations but still they offer me a seat on a very busy evening. The staff were very kind and very welcoming. I liked the fact that many staff members spoke English which made my job a breeze.
All in all, I'd recommend this restaurant to people hoping to grab...
Read moreVery poor experience here and we rarely give bad reviews. I was concerned as soon as we arrived and we were given a table inside next to the front door despite the restaurant being almost empty as we arrived early. There were nice booths and other seats but these were not offered. I ordered the fish and chips and my wife ordered the chicken burger. When the food arrived the chips were stone cold. So bad that my wife didn’t eat any of hers.
We were asked if everything was OK, mentioned the cold fries and nothing. The service all around was very poor, slow and without purpose, except the welcome and goodbye from the barman, that was it. I noticed a man on his own near us, also shuffled to a table near the door ordered the fish and chips and left all of his chips also, I’m guessing his were cold too. The fish was so so and small for the price charged but surely it’s not too hard to deliver hot fries.
There were screaming children in the bar who seemed to belong to the staff also.
My advice would be to skip this place and try somewhere else in town. Soured our visit...
Read moreWent there because my son recommended me. I think young people really enjoy this place. It is big, there is musique and it looks like a big English pub. The food was so so, the steak was difficult to chew. Just some green salad and so so French fries. On our dish we found a peace of a metal sponch for cleaning. We told them and they excused but not a little drink or coffee was offered. The 3 best places in the restaurant, in front of the bar, high benches that give you a nice view over the restaurant, were occupied by the staff. Two tables with their portable computers and the third table was for their 2 children playing on their screens. I think this restaurant...
