L'AUBERGE du bois — Restaurant in Montreuil-sur-Mer

Great food but the service was abominable. We were ignored for more than 30 minutes while other tables received service. My wife went tot the bar. The waitress looked her in the eye and ignored her again. We were properly dressed, we spoke (probably quite badly) french and the children were well behaved. In conclusion: there was no reason for the exclusion of service. To put it to the test: we left the full amount on the table in cash and went outside. Suddenly the owner did notice us. We explained that the money was left on the table. No apology was given.

In conclusion: I don’t know if this is some sort of backwards restaurant in which the french chauvinism is still so infantile that you ignore foreign tourists. If you are french I would say: do go here, the Roquefort sauce is fantastic. To all people from outside of France I would say: don’t go here: this is the worst kind of people you...

Amazing place! We passed by on our way back to Boulogne sur Mer and we were completely impressed by literally everything. The food was delicious, the restaurant was so cozy and the waitresses were above friendly.

I decided to go for the chicken with cheese sauce and tagliatelle and my partner decided to choose for the couscous with chicken (Auberge du Bois has a variety of couscous and tajine’s on the menu). Both of the dishes were extremely tasty and the couscous was even served with some little Moroccan accomplishments. The chickens in both of the dishes were tender and well spiced. Expérience...mitigée... Nous avons réservé une table pour le déjeuner. L'accueil est agréable, le cadre également. Nous avons commandé des apéritifs et une planche pour commencer. Cette dernière a un peu tardé à nous être servie. Néanmoins, les produits sont de qualité : on y retrouve du saumon et du foie gras notamment. La suite du repas a été plus compliquée... En effet, nous avons attendu plus d'une heure avant que les plats que nous avions commandés nous soient servis. On a eu l'impression qu'on nous avait complètement oubliés. Le patron nous explique que nous sommes arrivés dans le rush. Soit. Nos plats arrivent enfin, servis par une autre serveuse. Celle-ci semble un peu dépassée et nous jette presque les assiettes sur la table... Les plats sont bons : l'escalope au maroilles est tendre et bien préparée. Dommage qu'elle manquait un peu de chaleur. Nous décidons, au vu de la longue attente de ne pas commander de dessert. Nous quittons notre table plutôt déçus.
