Update July 2022 - Since my first visit in March 2020 we've been back to the Gaulois several times. To have a romantic dinner with my partner or a special evening with our families. The quality of the food remains extraordinary and the interior of the restaurant has evolved over the years to a very modern yet welcoming style.

Yesterday we had once more the "Menu Découverte" and enjoyed every single bit of it, but particurlarly (and to my surprise) the barbecued watermelon which I had ordered rather out of curiosity. The balance of savors was simply incredible ! Chef Jérome has created a fine dining experience at a price-quality ratio that's hard to beat in the region. Furthermore the staff was extremely professionnel and friendly yesterday, which made the whole evening even more perfect. Thanks to the whole team ! If I could upgrade my initial 2020 review from 5 to 6 stars I would ! Absolutely delicious ! We chose the "menu découverte", which at 45€ per person for 1 starter, 1 main dish and 1 dessert was great value for money. We had the foie gras and the boeuf Tataki, which were scrumptious. As mains we had the beef and the duck and for desserts the chocolate and the Apple one. Sorry there are no pictures, it looked and was way too good, and we couldn't wait to dig in. The service was professional and friendly. Chef Jerome's take on traditional ingredients is absolutely delightful. We can only recommend this restaurant. If you're looking for high quality ingredients prepared in an innovative way to a fair price, you should definately come...

Excellent food with some very innovative compositions all in our group liked very much. Very friendly service in the way I like it most: they were always there when needed, they gave explanations to the food and it was always in a natural and relaxed atmosphere. And, to repeat it: excellent food, really on par with some of the top restaurants I have visited before. I have been to some 1 and 2 Michelin star restaurants where the service was not so smooth and friendly and the food...

Bon accueil, l’apéritif était agréable, les amuses bouches surprenant et gouteux. Le choix des entrées limitées, puisque mon mari a demandé un poisson en entré, et ce n’était pas possible. L’entrée végétarienne, poireaux, différentes textures, différents goûts, réussite totale ! L’entrée carotte, pas aboutie, réduction jus de carottes et oranges sur compressée, manque de contraste dans les goûts et textures et couleurs. Au niveau du plat de résistance, choisi a la carte, beaux produits en suggestions, Belle présentation ! Petit point a amélioré, plus de chaleur aurait été souhaitée, Le plat terre et mer, Goûteux, à mon Goût la compotée d’oignons servie séparément emporte le plat, Difficile de distinguer le goût des langoustines. La qualité de la viande est excellente! Le turbot bon, le sellerie travaillé differement, sauce café…on aime ou pas question de gout. Le dessert chocolat, délicieux, j’aurai apprécié des fruits avec , mes amis ont aimés tel quel. La responsable de salle nous a recommandé des bons choix de vin au verre, elle devrait être plus décontractée et sourire, la jeune femme qui s’est occupée de notre table était simplement géniale! A l’aise , accessible et a l’écoute. The restaurant of french high cuisine. How the food looks and tastes is incredible. This place is like a showing off on the border of 3 states (if you forgot only 3 km to Switzerland and Germany) and demonstration of whoes cuisine is cooler. Definitely, it's a K.O., France wins. L'amuse-bouche comprenant une revisite de la salade de pommes de terre accompagné de pain au beurre de sauge, d'huile d'olive et d'épices était très savoureux. En revanche, nous avons été moins conquis par le plat signature à base de coquillettes et le pré-dessert aux carottes. Un dîner globalement très bon mais qui reste, à notre goût, perfectible sur certains points (les tarifs frôlant le niveau d'un étoilé donc élevés). Le service en salle était professionnel et plutôt avenant. Nous pouvons seulement regretter le fait d'avoir été toisé -sans discrétion- de bas en haut à l'entrée du restaurant par les deux serveurs; nos vestes d'hiver (oui, il faisait particulièrement froid dehors) ne semblant pas correspondre au standing du lieu.

The restaurant of french high cuisine. How the food looks and tastes is incredible. This place is like a showing off on the border of 3 states (if you forgot only 3 km to Switzerland and Germany) and demonstration of whoes cuisine is cooler. Definitely, it's a K.O., France wins. All meals were at least decent and absolutely delicious, no matter you choose a lunch menu or á la carte.
