Volfoni Saint-Louis - Alsace — Restaurant in Mulhouse

This is a typical American style, family friendly Italian chain restaurant and, as such, it has the merit of offering a cheerful and reasonably well laid-out floor plan with a full bar, a menu of Italian appetizers and main dishes including pizza where anyone can find something to their taste, all served by a staff that seems to have unlearned the horrible service standards that are the norm in most other French eateries. Kudos to the management for breaking with that obnoxious tradition! As for the food, it's pretty good without being spectacular, but most importantly, it's a reasonable value and since the surroundings are pleasant and the service is better than average, it makes for a winning combination. Let's hope that the team doesn't get jaded and regress once the novelty fades as these haven't been open very long. We've gone three or four times and been satisfied with the overall experience. And that's already a lot in a country where it's so commonplace to walk away angry after overpaying for food which, whether good or mediocre, is nearly always served with such catastrophic incompetence that you end up wishing you'd stayed home or gone to McDonald's - which is what most people do: second largest market after the US for the golden arches. So, reward this chain's effort by going, it's a fairly sure winner. Bring your friends, have some of the tasty cocktails and enjoy a good time eating out. They even have clean bathrooms! Bonjour. Première expérience complètement ratée. Nous avons reçu un mail à 18h45 (heure de notre réservation) nous informant que notre réservation pour 4 personnes n'était pas confirmée. Dommage on était déjà devant le restaurant pour être à l'heure. Là, le serveur nous informe que le restaurant est bien à St Louis mais qu'il faut réserver sur St Louis Bel Air de St Louis à la Réunion. Donc pas de réservation. Conscient de notre erreur due à cette subtilité, il nous informe que nous pouvons prendre un verre en terrasse. Une demi-heure après, toujours personne pour prendre les commandes et les serveurs a l'intérieur ne prennent même pas la peine de regarder dans notre direction. Certainement trop occupé a gérer les 6 tables réservées a l'intérieur ou trop peur de devoir servir les clients en terrasse. On retourne voir le serveur qui nous informe que le restaurant s'occupe uniquement des réservations et qu'il nous fallait avoir réservé plutôt que de ne pas être content. Même pas le gérant vient s'excuser ou tenter d'arranger la situation. Donc: Merci pour l'attente inutile et Dommage pour les 15 personnes qui ont comme nous quittés les lieux sans avoir ne serait-ce que boire juste un verre. Certainement que ce restaurant n'a pas besoin de faire du chiffre et encore moins besoin de clients. On essaiera une autre fois en réservant le bon site et en espérant être reçu correctement ce coup-ci (mais sans nos amis pour ne pas avoir l'air idiot une deuxième fois). A ce sujet, sur votre site quand on cherche Bel Air, seul le restaurant de Bel Air en Métropole est proposé. Et pour finir, il est Impossible de réserver au restaurant Bel Air de St Louis à la Réunion. Histoire de voir les points d'amélioration possible, il serait bon de se mettre à la place du client. Bref, Pour une première expérience, c'est complément raté...

I came here once before. It was fine. We went this evening, and I am sorry to say the food was not good. I had a truffle bake, but it was cold in the middle, like it was heated in the microwave. We could not get hold of the staff to heat it up. There seemed to be a lack of staff in general. My daughter had the vegeterian option and it was bland. The other meal was the veau Milanaise, which was not good at all. Its a shame as the decor is good, and we would have stayed for desert but were so disappointed...
