JOIO — Restaurant in Nîmes

We arrived at 19.30h. We did not have a reservation, we got a table next to the bar, lots of waiters running behind us all the time and noise from cocktail making. When we left two hours later, there were still plenty of tables available in the quiet part of the restaurant. Why not give us a regular table? The food itself was mediocre, we ordered the Joio burger, which was bland and needed salt and pepper, which was provided after asking. The bun was dry and tasteless. Little bit of rocket lettuce and tiny bit of cheese on the burger. No sauce, no seasoning. The accompanying fries were okay. Dessert tiramisu was mediocre. Not much taste and watery at the bottom. No coffee taste, not creamy. While overall pricing seems okay on the menu, the quality is not great. Staff is very friendly, but we had to ask twice to get the bill and needed to walk up to the counter for payment. Although we are in Castillon for a week we will not visit this restaurant again....

Where to begin.. This restaurant was so bad. The prices were ridiculous, compared to the food they serve.

The food had little to no flavour. And when I ordered a dish without meat (I’m a vegetarian), they still put meat in it. They wanted to make up for the mistake by giving our dessert (we ordered one dessert to share) for free. Sadly enough we saw the day after (when we checked the bill again, because it felt so expensive for what we got) that the restaurant charged us TWO desserts, instead of none. Very rude.

Also, the interior looked like they had to set up a restaurant within one day. Absolutely no warmth and no atmosphere. Really, really bad.

The waiters were friendly, but sadly enough this is the only positive thing we can say about this place.

I mean, 27 euros for a simple pasta without flavour… Ridiculous. We would highly recommend having dinner...

Nous sommes arrivés un peu en avance en pensant prendre le temps de boire un apéritif je l’ai glissé à la serveuse mais on nous a installé à table avec les cartes. Après 10 minutes un autre serveur vient nous voir et nous demande si nous avons choisi donc on a laissé tombé l’apéro . Nous sommes tous les 2 commerçants et on s’est fait la remarque que le patron venait de perdre de l’argent car le staff ne veut pas demander si on souhaite un apéro car bien évidement cela sous entend qu ils vont devoir faire le cocktail ( il n’y a pas de Barman ). On commande un vin blanc qui est servi en « rafraîchisseur «  il fait 35 degrés à 20h , finalement la serveuse nous rapporte un seau avec de la glace pour le vin. Très sincèrement je n’ai pas pour habitude de mettre des commentaires mais pour un menu a 45€ nous avons du melon avec du jambon de la salade de roquette avec un trait de vinaigre balsamique … aucune recherche ni découverte alors vous me direz un jambon melon c’est un jambon melon NON si le chef est bon il sait y apporter la petite touche qui va apporter l’originalité .le plat est un risotto mais ne le dites pas à un Italien il ne vous croirait pas car le riz est archi cuit , la bisque de Homard je serais très surprise si on me disait qu elle est faite maison enfin pour finir si un des desserts était très bon , la nectarine est un dessert servi dans une espèce de petite verrine ridicule et sincèrement je ne l’ai pas mangé . Bref nous habitons dans le coin et nous aimons souvent découvrir des nouvelles adresses alors svp faites un effort si il est compliqué d’avoir du personnel en salle vous ouvrez un restaurant associé à un nom d’un chef étoilé … évidemment on ne s’attend pas à un menu gastronomique mais au même prix nous avons regretté de ne pas être allé au...
