The memory of Le Fournil’s delicious bread is still at the forefront of my mind since my vacation in Vers Pont du Gard 16 years ago. I don’t even know the name of my favourite bread. I think it was a fougasse laced with orange blossom water and sprinkled with crunchy sugar, possible fennel seed too. It was lighter than focaccia, airy but not crisp, fragrant, slightly caramelized.
