A party of 7 people, looking for a place to eat on the 15th of August, in a touristic location without reservation, was on the paper, a recipe for failure and disappointment. On the contrary, our lunch at Chez Rosette was one of the best moments of our weekly family vacation in the region. Not only did our host accept to set up the table again right before kitchen closing time, but once seated, we had the best experience. The terrace is quiet on a peaceful square, the menu while offering a limited choice - composed with local products - was very appealing and creative. We tasted all three starters, from light and creamy vitello tonato made with filet mignon, to delicious fresh, juicy and tasty tomatoes, paired with exquisite dressing and local cheese, to a subtle, rich and refreshing melon gaspacho. As the main course, the fish & ship dish was a total blast with crispy "double-cooked" chips, perfect fish tempura. The chicken was tender and well assembled with a collection of vegetables, cereal, and nuts, which created a delicious taste. The portions are generous and nicely served in vintage tableware. We only tried one desert after such a gorgeous meal, a peach and prune crumble paired with a scoop of yogurt ice cream, which was heaven. The rest of our group tasted one scoop of ice cream, all delicious (coffee, salty buttery caramel, and yogurt). The coffee is aligned with the rest of the food, tasty, delicious, and selected with rigorous attention, served in lovely vintage cups. The waiter was very nice despite the rush hours and fully booked terrace. Our host was also very nice, smiling, and giving us the perfect wine recommendations to pair our meal, a delicious natural rosé wine, Pink my Ride. What a fantastic, memorable experience... We could not have dreamed of a better place to eat. Thank you 🙏🏻. Do not change a single thing of your magic hosting recipe, and keep...
Read moreWe spent 2 nights here last week and had very mixed feelings about it. ||||Firstly the reception was initially rather hostile as if our arrival was an inconvenience. The room was spacious and very smart though the inclusion of a large shower cubicle within the bedroom seemed odd, especially as the separate toilet was also large. A separate bathroom containing both units could have been built. ||||Dinner was rather disappointing: the expensive 3 course menu was very limited and neither of the main courses appealed (some sort of bull meat stew and baked sardines with mashed potato). We therefore both had 2 cold starters, respectively a beef carpaccio and a salad, both quite nice but overpriced at €8 each. Desserts were good. ||||On return to the hotel the following afternoon we found the restaurant closed for the evening. As we had had lunch out, we hadn't intended eating at the hotel so it didn't matter. However we found it odd that nobody had mentioned the restaurant closure. We had a very nice (but expensive) salad at the nearby Shad'oc restaurant. ||||We didn't have breakfast at the hotel but an 8.30am starting time seems late for it. ||||The most negative aspect of our stay was the payment fiasco. Their card machine rejected both our credit cards and we ended up having to pay a large amount in cash. They commented that foreign credit cards sometimes cause a problem. As we use our cards frequently all over Europe without any difficulty, the problem obviously lies with their card machine or account provider.||||Lussan is a beautiful, peaceful village and this and the perfect weather went some way to compensate for the disappointment...
