You know that feeling when you walk into a five star hotel but quickly realise it’s really closer to four? That was this stay.

The staff were mixed. Some were genuinely lovely and attentive, others less so. Outside of the dining areas there was no service, which meant heading in from the pool each time you wanted a drink. Sometimes they arrived in 15 minutes, sometimes not at all…. And we had to remind them. Hmmm

The pool looked inviting and was pleasant in the sun, but the details let it down. Sunbeds weren’t always clean, towels were often missing or unclean and the water sometimes collected leaves and bugs. It felt like the area could have been looked after a little better….

The gardens were also underwhelming. We renamed it the underwhelming gardens and laughed as we watched people come out it looking bored. Patchy and dry in places, with robotic mowers doing an uninspiring job. It could be so much more with a bit of care and attention…

Our room was comfortable enough but dated. The French grand style didn’t really work, and the decor felt heavy. A broken door handle meant I was briefly stuck inside, though it was fixed quickly. The Japanese toilet remote didn’t work, which was a shame. Even although I asked but I think it may have been a communication error.

Corridors doubled as storage areas for cleaning equipment, which didn’t exactly add to the atmosphere.

The restaurant was fine — food was nice, though the menu was limited. Breakfast was very basic, and after trying it once we decided to go into town instead and on the final morning we went to the brunch. Cold bacon and lukewarm scrambled eggs… defo not worth the price. And the bar even ran out of soda and limes a few times during our stay.

When we asked for local recommendations, staff didn’t mention the brilliant and stunning port just minutes away, where we later found live music and fantastic food. Ironically, that turned out to be the highlight of the trip.

But the electric bikes were a god send and decent quality and we had fun peddling around the area. I mean in all honesty there’s not a lot to do here. And obviously it took a while for them to give us the padlock and the battery for the bike etc but after a few days you come to expect the slow service.

Overall, it wasn’t a bad stay, just not five star. I’d give it three out of five. I wouldn’t return, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it. Management could do a lot to bring the standards up to match the hotel’s...

Easily accessible by autoroute ,the entrance to this chateau is wonderful ,the metal railed car park to the front and well ahead of the property less so. If the railings were to be covered in a more aesthetically pleasing floral ,or artificial leaves it might be easier on the eye. But after that we were greeted by a staff member at the gate who asked us to park right in front and he unloaded the car as we booked in. Once inside the property one can see the eye to detail of the various artefacts that have been amassed and placed around its halls and rooms. It has been described by some as “chintzy” ,but I viewed the property as decadent and “a nice place to be”. Our room was inspired by “Paris” and was large in area and offered a fantastic view across the front. Its bathroom was a technological marvel ,automatic lights and toilet seat ,Dyson hair drier and proximity tap operation. And I believe a heated floor.|| My wife made use of the pool on two occasions, but we did not use the spa. We also walked around the gardens at the rear ,with their differently themed displays. This really is a fantastic walk and much work has been done here ,that should not go unnoticed. The effort to create the various themed gardens must have been great ,and not to be found in most accommodations.||We had breakfast each of the four mornings we stayed at the hotel and service was a little hit and miss…but my porridge was lovely and my wife enjoyed her omelettes. Often plates would be left once we had finished with them and we felt the attentiveness of the staff for a five star hotel was a little lacking. Though the key thing to mention here is that the staff were ALL exceptionally pleasant. ||We had one evening meal and this was pleasurable and the wines and spirits offered in the gorgeous bar were second to none. ||There were a number of events taking place during our stay ,some might find this a distraction ,but on the whole they did not make the Chateau any less peaceful for me.|It has only a small number of rooms ,so at times it made the place feel a little less “empty”.||Overall a good find and a lovely place to stay ,why do I know this ? Because we were very...

We had a lovely stay at this chateau in France, which mixes modern comfort with unique design. Our room was themed "China," with beautiful Chinese decorations, really special. The hotel has great facilities like a high-tech Japanese toilet and provides excellent services—very clean, nice snacks, and friendly staff. However, for dog owners, it's a bit complicated. They allow dogs, give a bed and water bowl, but dogs are not allowed in any dining areas, inside or outside. This was inconvenient because we couldn't dine at the hotel with our dog. Despite this, the hotel is very relaxing, and each room looks different which is interesting. They have both heater and air conditioning, so it’s comfortable all the time. I really recommend this place, it’s fantastic in every way, just wish they let dogs in the dining areas. Overall, great place, would go back again for sure!

Great setup in a beautiful Chateau. Every room had a different theme and we chose to stay in Saint Petersburg. Booking online was straightforward and easy and the website had a good amount of information. We got there a bit late (10:30pm) and someone was still at the front desk waiting for us. They were very courteous and accommodating. The rooms are on the second floor with no elevator, but we only had carryons and someone helped us with our luggage. The room was very clean, very modern and pretty stocked up. The bathroom was also a combination of modern and vintage and decorated beautifully. We only stayed one night and upon checkout we were given a small cute bag of chocolates and water bottles to take with us. I am planning to come and back, stay longer and explore the area!
