My mom has been in Saorge many years ago and she has for many years told us about her great experience and allways wanted to show us the place. I cannot really speak for the cuisine as we only ordered Pizzas - but the pizzas were both very good (as indeed they should be, that close to Italy!) It is almost worth going here just for the views from this high-up village, extending a long way over valleys and mountains.
