La Pizza Dorée — Restaurant in Reims

Unfriendly welcome to France. Can only warn anyone coming by plane to grace this establishment with their presence. We had landed here for the first time ever, and unaware of the specific layout of this airfield wanted to cross the restaurant to reach the taxi that was already waiting for us. The owner (?) physically blocked our way and prevented us from crossing the five meters through the almost completely empty restaurant, claiming we had to buy a drink to do that. He only spoke French and refused to speak English. We had to go back, cross the tarmac and walk several hundred meters, with a toddler, mind you. We had wanted to come eat here on our way back due to the good reviews, but obviously didn't. For a restaurant that actively advertises its presence at and its view of an airfield this is an absurd way to treat pilots...

Restaurant / bar agréable, abordable, au design sympathique. Le personnel est sans failles, le patron est agréable, passionné d'aviation, et sa femme est toujours souriante, avenante et prévenante (n'y voyez pas de connotation autre que professionnelle). Une forme d'ambiance familiale, très fort à propos lorsque l'on en est dénuée. Malheureusement victime de son succès, il y a certaines fois du monde à table, et je vous recommande fortement de réserver, on ne sait jamais, même une demie heure avant, histoire d'avoir une place à l'extérieur, ou à l'abri dans la salle. Le choix de la terrasse ou en salle, se fera selon votre envie de voir évoluer les avions à pistons, jets, hélico, autogires et planeurs. N'hésitez pas à demander au patron le type d'appareil en rotation sur la piste. Même près de la nationale, vous n'entendrez pas les voitures (au pire des motos débridées) , mais quelques moteurs d'avions pour votre bon plaisir. Il règne un sorte de sérénité en ce lieu, juste bousculée par les "coups de feu" des repas en heure de pointe, mais bien gérés par un personnel rodé . La nourriture y est bonne, voir très bonne, et peu onéreuse... Simple et efficace. Ne pas hésiter à demander un dessert... Ha, et le café est bon. Bref, que ce soit entre amis, en affaires ou même en groupe, je recommande à 100% ce petit paradis. (mais svp, laissez moi...

We stopped by to go to the toilet, which we wanted to pay for, but the owners impolitely replied we had to drink something and started laughing. It's obvious this place is racist to anyone who doesnt speak French. It's actually an ordinary truck stop but they're acting like it's the Ritz with ugly pizzas. It's a pity that francophones are 30 years behind...
