La Mangoune Riom — Restaurant in Riom

Stopped in for the second time ever on 02/24 for dinner and was NOT disappointed. The decor is, as another poster mentioned, a bit “cowboy” but it’s cozy. Our server was attentive and friendly. The food…what can I say? The FOOD! The plateau gourmand with the cantaliens, croustis de poulet and accras de saumon was DELISH! (LOVE the cantaliens…deep fried Cantal cheese is always on MY menu) Also got the Cantalien burger and asked for “between rare and well done” and the kitchen did JUST that (I know, I’m a pain in the a$$ and I apologize!). The truffade that accompanies the burger is better than any fries, any day! It is a MUST-TRY! My partner indulged himself with the tripoux and said it was the best tripoux he’s ever had (and we live in Lyon!). Everything came very quickly, hot and done to perfection! We had La Mangouniere amber beer to accompany the food and it was a match made in heaven! SO much yum!! Don’t take MY word for it though…stop in and try it for yourself! il y a 3 ou 4 ans nous y sommes allé en famille et on avait très bien mangé. ce soir on décide d'y retourner et là grosse déception. on prend un apéro quand ils arrivent on a pas le temps de manger les olives servit en apéritif (olives sèches) les entrées arrivent direct. Entrée plutôt raisonnable. vient ensuite le plat, moi je prend le poisson du jour qui soit dit en passant est excellent mais aucune sauce n'est servit avec ce qui est bien dommage, d'ailleurs avec le poisson ça aurait top d'avoir du riz en accompagnement parce qu'avec des frites ça n'a pas la même saveur. mon fils s'est régalé avec son menu enfant. mon mari a pris du bœuf il était bon mais c'était pas non plus un plat où tu te dis waouh c'était trop bon. pour le dessert mon fils et mon mari ont pris de la glace donc rien à signaler. quant à moi j'ai pris l'assiette de fromage et bien comment dire que c'était une erreur. le st nectaire devait être mis dans l'assiette depuis un long moment car il était sec et le goût n'était pas celui du St nectaire. Le cantal il était pas non plus terrible heureusement que le bleu d'Auvergne était meilleur. pour le service il faudrait peut être qu'ils se parlent entre eux, parce qu'une serveuse pose du pain pour mon fromage et le serveur arrive juste derrière l'enlève et le jete dans une sorte de panière géante qui je pense sera mis à la poubelle. dommage on avait tellement de bons souvenirs et nous...

We stopped in for supper and it was better than we expected. The look of a cowboys saloon greets you as you step into the entrance (you have to let your ammagination loose a bit).
