Chez Bob — Restaurant in Rochefort

We booked online and had been told by friends that the restaurant was a real treat so we were really looking forward to dining there. On arrival, there was no record of our booking but we were facilitated with a table and were told we would have to wait 20 minutes to order, which was fine by us, we are glad to be facilitated, despite them having no record of our online booking. On the night in question, it started to rain and got colder at the same time as we arrived. This meant that the normal outdoor tables weren’t available for customers. This seemed to result in throwing the whole restaurant into disarray. There were quite a number of waiting staff, meaning that service should have been prompt. We were given menus and we ordered drinks. The 20 minutes passed. Another 20 minutes passed with no sign of anyone taking our order, despite us trying to attract the attention of several waiting staff. As we were waiting so long, we had decided to pay for our drinks and leave, but just as we were about to do so, the waiter returned to take our order. We ordered and the food and got it within 15 minutes which was fine. However four of the five dishes were cold. We had to return the food to have it heated. The standard of four of the five dishes was poor a definitely not worth it. We found the place lacked atmosphere. The waiter who served us was not friendly. despite being almost locals we have been away for the last decade and we didn't know about "Chez Bob" . We went just to have a coffee but the location and the menu made us come back for lunch later on the same day. Coffee were good even though the cappuccino can't really the aussies we became :). No chocolate powder but decent layer of foamed milk. For lunch the service was very good and fast ( we had only one hours). The salmon miso and the spicy tuna bowl was both very good. My wife found the salmon miso a bit too much in term of coconut milk ( and she is a big fan of coconut milk) but I enjoyed finishing her meal ! We didn't have time for the dessert so we will have to come back. I heard good thing about the brunch as well so we will have to try as well. The location is awesome and needs to be highlighted. The place is very trendy and like new: large spaces and high ceilings. The staff is truly polite and conscientious, and there are numerous waiters to whom you can order easily. Our main waiter was amazing and got a nice top from us.

Though, we had a booking that they were not able to retrieve. Positive note is that they were able to arrange us a table which is greatly appreciated.

The service was not done on time: some dishes arrive first and we had to wait for 15-20mn more for the pizzas which is unfortunate. They did apologise

Finally the food looked great on the menu but a bit thin in the plate. For example, we asked to remove chorizo in one dish with vegetables and replace with something else but actually we get potatoes only. Disappointing.
