Les Oliviers — Restaurant in Romorantin-Lanthenay

We came off the motorway at 12.15 hoping to find a decent bistrot and were rewarded with this gem. It's obviously a popular spot - most of the tables were reserved but they were kind enough to turn a table for 2 into a 3 for us, rather than send us packing! Unfortunately we didn't have time to go for the full menu - just main courses and desserts, and the menu enfant. I had the bavette de veau au chimichurri and my husband had bavette de Black Angus - both perfectly cooked and accompanied by roast tomatoes and potatoes. The tarte tatin was presented with a swirl of caramel so delicious that I wanted to lick the plate.

The staff were really great - service was prompt, smiling and chatty in the best possible way. The atmosphere in the room was lovely as the place filled up.

If we're ever this way again, would...

We are staying around the area and had searched for a decent restaurant to eat out at. So pleased we picked this one. Our welcome was nice and we were seated quickly. The restaurant is decorated very well, relaxing and comfortable. The menu isn't huge but plenty to choose from and I'm glad they concentrate on quality not quantity. We had the Filet Mignon and the "cod pie" which were beautiful. Presented well too. After, the profiteroles and the grand marnier "souflee". They were excellent too. We had very good service and the bill was reasonable too. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal here and we hope to be back before...

Très mauvaise expérience pour nous : salade composée avec une petite quantité de salade, un toast de chèvre chaud, 3 tranches de concombre et un demi œuf, et 2 tranches de tomates grappe pas mûres (en pleine saison des tomates !). Quasiment pas de sauce. Nous pensions qu'il s'agissait de l'entrée mais non c'était le plat (menu à 21€ avec dessert) salade non lavée !!! après info, le personnel reprend toutes les salades pour aller les refaire... La salade composée nous est ramenée avec les toasts de chèvre à moitié mangés (ils ne les ont même pas refait) servies aléatoirement

D'autres points moins grave : les enfants servis en dernier, alors que vu leur patience il est plus logique de les servir en dernier tout le personnel est sympathique à l'exception d'une personne (la patronne ?) qui a été extrêmement désagréable suite à nos remarques sur la salade

Sinon le dessert...
