La Maison Louveciennes — Restaurant in Saint-Germain-en-Laye

Service is not great- very slow. Waited 15 mins and no one offered me a menu- I had to ask for one. I ordered a ‘filet’ of sea bass which was served on top of mashed potato and caramelised tomatoes. I choked on a large fish bone, then found another 2 inside the mashed potato the fish was sitting on. If you’re unsure of a fish having bones, it should be served on a separate plate so you can see and remove the bones, not on top of a creamy mashed potato with tomato sauces on top where all the bones are buried in the potato. This is a huge risk and I actually scratched my throat because I went in with a mouthful of potato and fish together and the bone went down to my throat. I informed the manager and she was not sympathetic at all and just claimed that ‘it is fish and might have bones’. For this kind of establishment normally there is more done for the customer- the plate is changed etc- no offer was made. I didn’t eat half my plate because I was put off and she just took my plate away without even offering a replacement dish etc. Frankly, I have had better service in McDonalds. Disappointing. We used to come here often but little by little the portion sizes got smaller and smaller as the prices got higher and higher. On our most recent visit, with food and wine (no aperitif or coffee) it was over 50€ a person and we left still hungry. People were served desserts while others were just forgotten. The steak-frites looked like a child’s menu. We had to chase after a server to have water, our bill, and bread. I would recommend La Maison 3 years ago but not now. Avis assez mitigé sur cette adresse. L'accueil a été très chaleurese, nous avons été placés face à la Seine permettant un déjeuner avec une belle vue. Le service est assez désorganisé avec le service de l'entrée avant la fin de l'apéritif. Le plat est arrivé rapidement aussi alors que nous étions sur un déjeuner dominical plutôt en mode calme. Un serveur nous a apporté une eau plate alors que nous n'en n'avions pas commandée. Nous avons opté pour un menu 3 services à 48€. Les entrées sont bonnes et bien garnies sans pour autant être basées sur des recettes élaborées. Nous avons opté pour un tartare de canard et foie gras poêlé. Là encore les portions sont de très bonnes tailles et la qualité au rendez-vous. Pour ma part j'ai pris un Pavé de turbot grillé à la braise, sauce choron (supplement de 2€). Il était préparé de façon très grasse ne permettant pas de savourer le goût du turbot que j'ai l'habitude de manger. Nous avons terminé par les desserts : crumble de fruits rouges, cheesecake citron et poire Belle Hélène. Les desserts étaient bons et toujours avec une quantité généreuse comme l'ensemble des plats. Il est à noter que l'établissement est dans l'ensemble très à l'écoute de ses clients. Nous fêtions les 18 ans de notre fille et l'ensemble des serveurs ont apporté son cheesecake en chantant '🎶 happy birthday..🎶' et nous ont offert les coupes de champagne. Cela fut très apprécié par notre fille et nous.
