Les Papilles — Restaurant in Saint-Julien-en-Genevois

What a wonderful surprise. The hotel has a restaurant...not any bog standard hotel add on, but a great place. So busy and everyone chatting and eating and the staff not missing anyone. Wow. I sorted my steak frites longing, 2 glasses of house red, a bottle of sand pelligrino water and the cheese plate. 40 odd euros. If you stay at Kyriad Annemasse - Genève, then definitely eat here. I am stuffed. The menu has tons more items, I was very tempted by the salt beef and foil...

The food is good, but this is the first time I see the waiter to come and get the menu from me in order to give it to other customers. And this before I was ready to order. And this is not once, but twice happening for the evening. On top of having only one English menu in the restaurant, the menu is without prices, so one has to match it with the French menu to see the price....

Nous avons fêté mon anniversaire ainsi que la fête des mères au restaurant Les Papilles à Annemasse, et nous étions 8 personnes. Côté cuisine, rien à redire : nous avons très bien mangé, les plats étaient savoureux et bien présentés, un vrai régal.

Malheureusement, notre expérience a été ternie par l’attitude d’un serveur dont le comportement a été déplacé. En prenant ma commande, je lui ai précisé que je ne souhaitais pas de légumes, seulement des frites, et il m’a répondu de manière désobligeante qu’il n’allait pas « écrire un roman ». Plus tard, en lui demandant quelles sauces étaient disponibles pour accompagner la viande, il m’a répondu que « les clients devraient apprendre à lire les cartes », refusant de me renseigner.

Je trouve cela extrêmement regrettable : un service irrespectueux peut vraiment gâcher un bon moment, même quand l’assiette est excellente. J’espère sincèrement que ce type de comportement ne reflète pas l’esprit de l’établissement, car le reste du personnel semblait professionnel.
