After looking at this hotel?? on line we thought it looked quite good and booked for three nights. Imagine our horror when we we given a cell sized ancient room with a dilapidated pod for a bathroom. No heating in my sons room and no curtains on the windows, the pod floor was disgraceful and large chunks of paintwork and furniture were damaged or missing and his room smelled with some sort of chemical. The towels in both rooms were stained and frayed, the radiator in my room was right out of the 1940's with several pipes running up the wall and as for Wi-Fi, it was non existent unless in the downstairs eating area. The area around the sink taps and the taps as well were very grimy and the shower head in my room fell off it's holder at 3AM in the morning as terrified the life out of me. The rooms we were given would not be out of place in a poorly made horror movie. We were both thoroughly disgusted. The next morning my son complained and without a quibble he was refunded our money. I would never ever recommend this...
Read moreMe and my family wanted to try this restaurant but we were really disappointed. The waitress is unfriendly and unsmiling, her short dress was not adequate for her job. Our plats on the table, the flank steak that I ordered was undercooked and the salad was simply horrible. At first, I wanted to take the Normandy burger but the waitress told me, they didn't have received their steaks yet so they didn't have burgers anymore. I have learned that the burgers were only for those who are in the hotel. They also use poor quality products for their salads. My mom went to pay the bills and she said that there were ants on the counter, we even saw a water leak from the outside on the terrace. Their establishment is deplorable in addition to not being hygienic. I personally think it's too expensive for what they do.
The positive point is the terrace and Camembert sauce for the flank steak. Really I don't recommend this restaurant, I don't even dare to imagine how it is in the kitchen or in the hotel's rooms. I won't come back,...
Read moreThis review is only about the restaurant, since we didn't board at the hotel. The main room has a lot of flair and an inviting atmosphere. The waiter spoke decent English and was very friendly and helpful. The menu was short, which we took as a good sign. Both of us decided on one of the reasonably priced set menus, and what can I say? The chef clearly knows what he is doing. For me it was a delicious meat pastry as an entree, accompanied by a simple salad, drizzled with an amazing dressing. The main course was a beautiful duck breast filet with crispy fried skin, accompanied by a creamy potatoe gratin and nicely seasoned vegetables. As a dessert I had a mouthwatering lemon pastry with creme legere. All three courses were among the best food I had during my holiday in France, which has been going on for 10 days so far. The bad reviews for the "Escapade" on Google are mainly concerned with the hotel. They should not discourage you from trying out the restaurant. You would miss out on an...
