From the moment i entered the restaurant, we were treated so poorly. That should been a sign to run for the hills, but we came all this way to go to this secluded restaurant in the french side of sxm, so we decided to stay. Wrong move!
As i step one foot in the restaurant, the owner did not even greet us, no “Hi”, no “Good morning”- walked in with my family (2 adults, 1 kid and a 6m old baby) + my girlfriend and her son : STRIKE 1.
The first words that the owner uttered was “we have no high chairs” - i said it was ok cause i brought my stroller for the baby. The owner proceeded to seat us OUTSIDE (the weather was gloomy, it seemed like it was going to rain). The owner sighed as she put together 2 tables for our party of 6, mind you the restaurant was empty - there was just a table of 4 seated at the time. That was STRIKE 2.
She brought us our menu, and provided no explanation on the menu worked, it was a bit confusing as there wasnt any prices next to the individual items. She took my girlfriends order, she took the salty & sweet combo for her and her son to share. When it was my turn to order, i wanted the same combo for me and my husband + a side of bacon, she said its 1 order per person. She wasnt happy with my order, that she came to REMOVE my husbands cutlery to ensure that he didnt eat - STRIKE 3!
Food : everything lacked flavor, everything was cold and bland, i was happy to not have ordered so much as it was quite underwhelming. When the food arrived, she threw/slammed it on our table.
Cleanliness : tables and chairs were sticky, no airconditionning but there was a few fans on the restaurant but not close enough to cool down the seated area - again, it wasnt particularly a sunny hot day, so imagine if the scorching sxm sun was out.
When we asked for the bill. We waited … & waited and the bill never came. We all got up to go to the cash register to ask for the bill, and the owner did not even have the decency to hand me the bill, she instead pointed at a piece of paper on the counter. STRIKE 4!
We left there completely stunned at the owners behavior. The owner seemed courteous to the other caucasions guests, but our familes (asian & haitian) - she treated us like garbage. Or maybe its because we had children with us and they werent welcome. I just dont know. She even made a comment about us being french canadian, which no one really understood why she even had to mention it.
So if your looking to be treated like scum & have cold underwhelming food, this is the spot for you. But for us, it will be our last visit at this establishememt, better to go eat a warm meal at the local street vendors rather than this classless restaurant with overly...
Read moreThe friendliest people on the friendly island! Lulu and her team are a joyfully hospitable bunch who love people and good food. Everything is handmade with care and expertise; the bread is soft with a crisp crust, the fish is fresh, and the espresso is perfectly balanced. Over the weekend, I found myself there on three occasions, and I got to see just how professional, composed, and dedicated this team is, even in difficult situations. Andréas waited on me and kept a smile on her face as well as mine. They even let me borrow their charger when I needed to charge my phone. I truly can't say enough great things about these people, their food, and their heart.
I can't wait to come back to visit, and next time, I'll...
