These are individual studio apartments in a large complex of 3 or 4 floors, owned by various hosts. We found a reasonable deal via AirBNB. Our hosts provided good instructions via WhatsApp video and text. The studio was clean, had nice decor, and had basic essentials for cooking/serving. The view from the patio wasn't much as we were on the first level and too hot to eat breakfast but perfect for dinner under the stars. Consider bringing your own toiletries and paper products, as they aren't provided, neither are beach towels, chairs, nor umbrella/canopy. You can buy some items at the convenience store (clerks are friendly and helpful) or rent from beach sites just a short walk away. Wifi, AC, and pool were great! There are several permanent residents from France and England who were friendly and helpful.
We took a taxi from/to the airport ($30US) and Grand Case ($15) for Mardi Gras and chose to walk to SuperU, Pinel Island Ferry, and to the restaurants/shops in Orient Bay (all within 20-30min). There are lots of options for dining at various price points. The pizza and lasagna on premise are delicious and reasonable. There were so many beautiful creatures and vegetation everywhere! However, there were several stray cats who could be noisey at night. Also, to note, you will encounter topless sun bathers, as well as some fully nude individuals on the far end of Orient Beach and Pinel.
While this is no longer a top-notch resort due to the hurricane, it is great on a budget, serene, safe,...
Read moreWe had a whole needful stay here. Cute little apt and a beautiful view. The beach here was gorgeous and a nice walk to the shops and restaurants. We rented a car and went to Happy Bay Beach and Grand Case Beach. Lots of great restaurants downtown there. We had a wonderful meal. Yesterday we drove to Anse Marcel Beach. We had lunch at the marina there. Great Lille sops and food. We went to the Esmeralda resort for dinner at L' Astrolabe. So amazing! Great service and food and a beautiful setting. Another night we stayed close to home and went to Le Taitu. I’m very cute little restaurant. The food was great here too! We did breakfast further up the beach at Good Morning, the Yellow Submarine. When we had had a long day on the beach and just wanted to walk down for dinner, we had pizza at Fred’s pizzeria three times. Homemade thin crust and very tasty. It was handy to have a store downstairs as well. Great visit, I would recommend...
