On a friend's strong recommendation we came for Sunday lunch. What a find! The restaurant is situated in a beautiful tranquil setting. We were greeted at the door by the friendly owner who gave exceptional service throughout. The dining area is warm and inviting and the food...WOW! We were offered an amuse bouche of parmesan biscuits followed by creamy Jerusalem artichoke purée... delicious! Our party of four went on to have starters of super fresh cuttlefish, beautifully prepared with horseradish and celeriac, Potato and onion soup with local cured ham which was full of flavour. Mains included beef and monkfish beautifully served with seasonal vegetables and incredible sauces. Desert: local cheese board and an out-of-this-world Paris brest with praline cream. The owner told us that all ingredients are sourced locally and served as fresh as possible. The proof is in the taste! As such, the menu is updated weekly. The wine list was extensive with several organic choices. All four of us agreed it was one of the best meals we have ever had in France and will definitely...
Read moreWe popped in at lunchtime to make an evening reservation, and Im pleased we did because the outside area was full that evening.
We thoroughly enjoyed the set menu , which started with a very refreshing palet cleansing cucumber amuse bouche.
Our starters were delicious beef & aubergine parcels, and a broad bean and pea cold soup.
To follow a generous perfectly cooked hake fillet with a rich sauce and a sweet & succulent pork , both served with carrots and fennel.
The options of dessert all sounded great, so I asked our host (waitress/wife) to choose mine. Light and fresh but slightly naughty dish of strawberries, ice cream, sorbet , chantilly cream and pieces of clafoutis. My husband had a good selection of local cheeses.
I would highly recommendAuberge de Moustier for great food, services...
