Oddiyana Garden — Restaurant in Sarlat-la-Canéda

I've eaten at a lot of indian/pakistani places in the UK. I tend to avoid them across mainland europe, because the standards in the UK are high and I'm often disappointed compared the quality of local dishes. After seeing the reviews here I thought I'd give it a shot.

All I can say about this place is wow. The food was absolutely delicious. I don't say this lightly, but the daal compared favourably with Veeraswamy, a Michelin starred curry restaurant in London, which charges thrice the price for a single dish. Everything was delicately spiced and well balanced with delicious vegetables. My one year old son even ate all his vegetables for once.

My only observation for other Brits (and this is an observation rather than a problem) is that it wasn't spicy/hot at all by British/south asian curry standards. You might be able to ask for a bit more heat, I haven't tried. I'm sure though that this is to cater for French tastes - several of the reviews in french remark on it as a positive - which is obviously completely understandable - it is after all in France!

There's another review here critising the amount of plastic packaging used. I think this is unfair. We had a takeaway and pretty much everything was either recyclable aluminium or paper. The only plastic was minimal and wrapping the wooden disposable cutlery.

What a delicious food this place has to offer! We (my girlfriend and me) were located at a nearby camping and came across this place. From the road it already looked very nice and cosy. We came to know this is a take-away place, which has some room to sit and eat as well on location. We decided to go there and enjoy our food in their garden. Very friendly owners help to decide what you can best order (menu was quite overwhelming given everything on there was "new/unusual" for us). Initially we stumbled upon this place looking for a decent place with vegetarian food. Since the offer is very sparse in this area, it was a lovely surprise to find a place with a completely vegetarian menu.

At arrival I was immediately charmed by the atmosphere and the incredibly hospitable hostess, who immediately puts a smile on everyone’s face. She was more then willing to think with us in adapting to food allergies for us.

We had a lovely dinner with incredibly tasty food. Everything fresh, lovely seasoned and plenty for a good price.
