Hôtel Restaurant La Renaissance — Restaurant in Sarlat-la-Canéda

We arrived at La Renaissance shortly after it opened for the evening (open from 7pm) and about half the tables were already taken. The others filled up as we ate - not bad for a Thursday evening. Most tables were taken by families, with a few couples. Apart from ourselves, I didn't notice anyone speaking anything other than French, so I'm guessing this restaurant appealed to the locals and to the French on holiday - usually a sign of a good place if it's not only full of tourists. ||||The tables in use were all outside, and all with good shade from umbrellas or trees. We're vegetarians and we found plenty to eat (not always true in French restaurants). Pizzas and a brilliant cepe omelette went down well. The chef was happy to omit ingredients at the request of one of our party. ||||It's right by the road but there's no traffic at that time of the evening. Very friendly...

Went in around midday on a Tuesday for a family of 7 including 2 under 5 for lunch. The gentleman greeting us was very welcoming and respected us trying to speak French but doing very badly so helped out with responses in English where needed. The food and drink came out very quickly and what was nice was it all came out at once. Kids loved their food as did the adults. There was more than enough to fill us up in to a food coma! The food ranged from salads to pizzas to steak, all of which was fresh and cooked to perfection. It started to get busy shortly after we got served but the food just kept coming quickly. The atmosphere was very nice and inviting throughout. Very accommodating...

We previously visited over a few years, the last being the year before lockdown and the food was not so good. So it was with some trepidation that here was the only local restaurant available. Happy days, the menu is good, still does pizzas (excellent ones too) plus they currently have 3 dishes "of the moment". Back to using as our local. The food is fantastic. Recommend the pork. Desserts are scrummy and rather moreish. Would also recommend Juliper over Leffe as lighter with your food. Staff really friendly and the place is always busy. So far eaten there 3 times this...
