We had heard about this restaurant from friends and, given we were in the region, decided to have lunch there. My goodness, lunch turned out to be a marvelous mix of outstanding quality food combined with good service and wonderful views from its location on the side of a valley. We have seen past reviews about long waits but we did not experience that at all. In reality, for a multi course meal (which we decided upon) you need breaks between courses and this was managed very well. Of course, this is also related to how busy the restaurant is and for us I would say it was half full. Standout here was the quality of the produce (sublime) and presentation (excellent) and options available (delicious). We decided on a set menu of options and were not disappointed. It was also great not to be rushed to finish… this is clearly a choice by the owners to prioritize experience over pushing customers through. Following lunch we took a walk through the town of Carlux, a small village with some interesting old buildings to visit, not a bad option following our large meal! Highly...
Read moreAvoid this place at all costs, if you are a tourist… We heard great things about this restaurant, and it was always busy when we passed, so we booked a table for the 7.30 sitting. Arrived on time, were eventually shown to a table, which was still dirty from the previous diners. Waited an hour before we were given menus, and another 20 minutes before our order was taken. We were served drinks, and four pieces of walnuts on a plate, randomly, and continued to wait for our starters. After two hours, I asked the waiter if any of our food was ready, as we were very hungry at this stage. He spoke to the maitre, went to the kitchen, returned with two plates of food, which he handed to a table who had walked in for the 9pm sitting! We then left our table, waitied 20 more minutes to pay for our drinks, and left after 2 1/2 hours without getting a bite of food. Absolutely no apologies from any of the staff, and our ticket ripped up in front of us as we left, just to add insult to injury. Hands down the worst ‘dining’ experience I have ever...
Read moreWe had a meal for four on 20/8/16 in the evening, we had booked a table earlier that day. We were shown to a table near to the road whilst more pleasant tables overlooking the valley below were available away from the road, we were told these were not available yet other groups arrived later who appeared not to have booked and were shown to these tables. The service was very very slow, it took 3 hours for us to have our meal, all the tables around us who arrived after us had similar meals and left before we received our dessert. We asked for a glass to drink a bottle of beer and was made to feel like we had asked for the world! The waitresses gave the impression we should be grateful for any type of service. We never received any bread with our meal, yet surrounding tables received two baskets of bread. We refused to pay the service charge and no one seemed bothered which sums up the restaurant. The food was reasonable but not spectacular; together with the service I would recommend that you never use...
