EDIT2: The ownership and/or management changed when the name of changed from "Le Chai" to "Le Welcome". By the way, you still have many reviews on this page which were written for Le Chai, which are providing the majority of your positive ratings, this is very deceiving as you did not earn them
The extra price of the drink is one thing, but nothing excuses the poor quality, how hard is it to mix Perrier and Martini Rosso?
Your shellfish did not taste fresh and there are other reviews on this page that agree with me. If you make those sauces yourself then you should get a better Saucier.
Maybe you should spend less time on arguing with google reviewers and more time improving your food, drink and service. It's not a good look
EDIT: I wasn't going to leave any other information than my rating, but since you responded sarcastically, I will tell you why I left a 1 star review. We have been coming to this place for many years, and since it changed ownership, the quality has plummeted. Last year we had dinner here with a large party. The duck burger was burnt, the mussels were frozen, the sauce was out of a packet. Today, we ordered 2 martini rosso's with perrier, we received 2 tiny flat drinks, no perrier, and we were charged 16 euros for the privilege. What a waste of an excellent location and beautiful building....
Read moreLe Welcome is a colourful, edgy and super interesting French village restaurant bar. I love it. It's family run with passion for service and authentic food plus they have a broad selection of great beers on tap, good house wines and a decent menu.
We visited over the summer and spent most nights there. They feature local live bands that are highly entertaining and very talented. The barbecues on their outdoor terrace were incredibly tasty and warranted repeated visits during our stay in Saint-Cyprien. Remember, please do book in advance it is very popular.
My youngest daughter is a coeliac making food choices throughout France very difficult. However like numerous restaurants we visited in the village, the catering team were very accommodating and helped her get what she needed without any food stresses.
There's no doubt that this is a quirky local venue, it's packed with character and interesting local patrons. If you're looking for authenticity and something different, Le Welcome is absolutely...
Read moreHaving arrived in Saint Cyprien and wanting to get some lunch we came across Le Chai, and I am so glad we did.
On arrival we were greeted by a lovely and friendly man who showed us to our table outside at the back of the restaurant which was a surprise. Our French is still quite ropey so this very kind man read the menu to us in English and French and told us about each dish. My husband went for a burger, I had an amazing Aubergine dish and our son had his holiday favourite of chicken nuggets.
We were given water and both food and drinks were served quickly, and tasted absolutely fantastic.
Throughout our meal the staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough to help us. It was an absolute pleasure to have found an amazing restaurant and we will definitely visit again (and hopefully grandmother's aubergine dish will be on the menu again).
Overall, absolutely loved Le Chai for the fantastic food, beautiful seating outside, amazing friendly staff and...
