Recommended by a friend, the Relais des Chateaux Forts did not disappoint - but I was expecting clean, comfortable and functional rather than indulgent and luxurious. ||I had a first-floor room with a balcony - which is about the size of the average phone box. The view of the citadel was great, though. Anyway, the bed was comfy and the shower was good. ||The restaurant was excellent - reasonable prices and generous portions of great food. No need to go into town unless you really want to explore: the hotel restaurant is so good I'd eat there again happily. Breakfast - which is charged as an extra - is okay but nothing special.||Good WiFi, and while parking is outside the hotel, it feels secure as it is next to the police station so I had no qualms about leaving my bike out front.||Overall it's a good, no-frills hotel with great food. The team at Le Relais looked after us brilliantly from start to finish, I would not hesitate to recommend to anyone wanting to stay in Bitche! Every morning at the front desk Christine greeted us with an enormous smile and glowing character. Whenever we were in the restaurant Leo made sure that we were well looked after, and helped us so much with his translation skills!
