We are a group of 5 wandering around Corsica from the States and Chez Alex gave us the full Corsica experience! We walked in and he welcomed us to sit down and eat. We felt like his honored guests even though none of us speak any French. This was a true full dining and cultural experience! We didn’t order. There was no need. Chef Alex simply begins to prepare and serve the evening meal. First he brought out water and wine and olives. Then a huge freshly baked bread, a Lima bean pea salad and a tomato salad for us all to share. The next course was wild boar in a tomato like sauce with pasta. My mouth watered. I normally don’t eat meat, but whatever Chef Alex serves, I will eat it. Sooo good. The pasta was better than our spaghetti in Italy the night before. Dessert was fresh cheese with homemade jam and melon. This was followed by an amaretto chaser. Which was followed by Chef Alex bringing out his guitar and harmonica and he sang for us. We all ended up singing and dancing and laughing with the other guests as if we were all friends. It was simply a magical evening. We also had no cash to pay for our meal. No problem with Chef Alex. He still provided excellent service and welcomed us to return with cash to pay the next day. Only 25 euro a person for this purely magical night of song, dance, delicious food, laughter and dreams. Take my money. Chef Alex, Thank You for sharing your culture and food and home...
Read moreWe had a reservation, and were seated reasonable quickly. However, the waiter failed to notify upon seating us that there were items sold out on the menu. After ordering two items that were not available. The waiter was sorry (It’s not his fault). After this interaction we were ignored multiple times, even though the table directly next to us (who was seated after us), was still receiving prompt service and was offered and served dessert before us. We were not offered dessert. The chicken was dry and unseasoned. The steak was covered in pepper, and not cooked correctly. Also the table next to us were alap American so that was not the reason (even though we initially thought it was). The waiter did not interact with us for the rest of the night until he picked up the check after we paid. We asked for the check multiple times. Another waiter grabbed our check for us, rang us out, and checked to make sure everything was okay. We were then ignored on...
Read moreNot recommend, I would consider it a tourist trap… We entered to ask for a lunch. We don’t speak French, and the only guy who spoke a bit of English told us we can sit and then never showed up again, so we didn’t have a chance to ask for a menu, or prices. Immediately Alex started to show us some of his magic tricks, play harmonica & brought some meat cuts. They didn’t look good so we haven’t eaten it. After seeing the meat cuts we tried to say we don’t want any more food, but he brought more meat & pasta. The meat was heavy, the pasta was from day (or days) before… I appreciate he plays some music & does tricks, but the main focus in the restaurant should be food - here of questionable taste,...
