My wife and I had a romantic dinner at the Buerehiesel 2 days ago and loved it. Several years ago we ate in the previous incarnation of the restaurant when it had 3 stars and was presided over by Antoine Westermann. So while the 3 star ambience is now gone it under his son Eric it has been replaced by something more easy going, less formal but very friendly and enjoyable. The food is definitely the focus rather than the pomp and circumstance demanded by the Michelin rating system. This is also reflected in the attire of the customers (T-shirts and jeans rather than suits and ties) and staff (aprons and polo shirts rather than black suits and white shirts). The meal was excellent, entrees were carpaccio of St. Jaques (Emincé de coquilles Saint-Jacques de la baie de Morlaix, racine de persil, huile d’olive et citron) for my wife, frogs legs in a garlic and cerfueil sauce (Ravioli et cuisses de grenouille poêlées au cerfeuil) for me. This was enjoyed with a glass of the house champagne which I found to be excellent though I did not capture the name. This was followed by hare with a fantastic foie gras (Lièvre à la royale et foie gras poêlé, spaetzle à l’eau gazeuse et champignons des bois) for my wife and a delicious roast of roe deer (Noisette et gigue de chevreuil rôties, fruits et légumes d’automne aux chanterelles grises, parmentier d’épaule au foie gras et jus au vin rouge) for me accompanied by an excellent bottle of Cahors. Desserts, cooked figs and sorbet (Figues noires de Soliès crues et cuites, gelée aux épices à vin chaud, crémeux yaourt au citron vert et sorbet) for madame and chocolate souffle (Soufflé chaud au chocolat Manjari, crème anglaise à la vanille bourbon, sorbet à l’orange) for yours truly. Sadly we had a bit too much wine to sample the desert wines or digestifs on offer. We had a great meal and will definitely go back with friends. It would also be worth trying their weekday lunch menus probably a great deal...

I could go on and on about the ambiance lacking, or the horrendous service from our waiter... The worst service we've ever had in our entire lives (waiter named Houman??), or the discombobulated, cold, and tasteless food.
I have so much to say about this place and not one thing is positive. Please save your money, time, and go elsewhere. My husband and I travel often and we wouldn't even eat here again if the meal was given to us for free.
As for the service, there was one tall gentleman with buzzed hair on the bottom and the rest of his hair in a ponytail. He was the highlight of the meal. Our waiter Houman was the worst we've ever had in our entire lives! We asked him after appetizers to please watch out for us more and refill our water, clear our plates, ask if we are enjoying our meal, etc. He sarcastically said "ok", and we never saw him again. He didn't come back to our table once the rest of the meal! We've had much more stellar service from a food truck.
We have eaten at Michelin restaurants and I'm shocked that this restaurant is even in the same league. It has actually made me question the validity of Michelin stars and I'll be writing...
Read more9/10 for the Rouget dish with vengole. 10/10 for the veal Lacaune dish with artichokes purée. Also 10/10 for the soufflé dessert “soufflé chaud à la pêche blanche et sorbet au thym”. 7/10 for the mille-feuille au chocolat with sorbet chocolate. Lacks freshness. However 10/10 for the starters savory Kugelhopf and micro flammkuchen. So kind careful and attentive service. We were here for dinner. It was my first Michelin star restaurant in France. So nice atmosphere outdoor on an evening of 32 degree summer day surrounded by the nice typical Alsatian architecture and the green all around. The Buerehiesel is an Alsatian house dating from 1607. Around 10 tables of 3 and 5 outdoor under lovely sunshades. Very romantic atmosphere. For the record, the building was brought piece by piece to the park on the occasion of the International Industrial Exhibition of 1895. Her vegetable garden and gazebo came with her. This year marks the year when Strasbourg hosted the international event in the Orangerie Park.
Pity it was too gloomy at the tables on the terrace. If you want to see what is on your plate and the nice colors of the dishes and the desserts prefer to book a table inside. Lovely and...
