Arrived at the restaurant for a late lunch and chose a table in the far corner of an otherwise pretty empty outside tented area. There was a kerfuffle in process when we arrived with a group of 10ish that had booked but there were no tables available for them at the time they’d booked for. I knew this as I was queuing to be served behind them once we’d got seated. I gave up queuing due to this and went back and sat down with my partner and her brother and waited to be served instead. After about 15 minutes of waiting a group of 4 came into the tented area, of which still wasn’t busy and spoke with the waitress. The waitress had already at this stage asked us if we were eating, we’d said “yes” to this and were waiting for menus at this point. About 2 minutes passed and then the waitress came over to us and asked us if we had booked a table? Obviously after about 20 minutes of waiting we were confused by this. We said “no we hadn’t” and were then promptly asked to leave the restaurant! In 51 years I’ve never been asked to leave a restaurant before.
