I read the reviews since the change from the Brasserie de la Plage and wanted to see for myself. Recently changed ownership, the new Mamma Mia just doesn't come up to scratch. Service was friendly and welcoming. The nearest pizza to my favoured pepperoni/chorizo was the Diavola with slices of spianata. My wife's choice was the Regina. Bottles of wine are available from 26 euro for a rosĂ© vin du Var, no house wine. A carafe of warm tap water was provided, the previous owners would have supplied a large bottle from the fridge. The tomato sauce on the pizzas was thin and tasteless, the pizza base in the centre was soggy and the crust around the edge was thick and doughy, a bit like a stuffed crust without the stuffing. The cheese was ok but the filling was minimal and didn't reach the edges. It was certainly not thin and crisp and it would have been nice if a few olives had been included. For dessert we had Grand Marnier crĂȘpes which were extremely dry and tasteless. A bit like eating blotting paper. I couldn't taste any orange liqueur. Coffee was nice. Large restaurant, but the decor and layout over a number of tiered areas, makes it feel smaller. The staff are casually dressed, but the service was very good and attentive without being pushy. Delicious fresh food - we had pizzas, frites and salad. The pizzas are really good and make with a thin, light base (which I prefer to the big, thick doughy ones).
