Casse-Cailloux — Restaurant in Tours

When I walked into this cozy little place with the vintage vinyl on the wall, I thought yes, I made the right decision. But the experience went a bit down hill with the rushed service. For lunch service there was only a waitress who bearly speaks any English and a waiter who was constantly running around. We managed to get our order in with rushed explanation of the food and wine. And the starter arrived before any wine appeared. The veal head was amazing hence the 2 stars I gave. But my main course of fish fillet was raw in the middle. Apparently this is how the chef preferred, which was not mentioned. It was taken back to recook which resulted in very over cooked fish and vegetable and i just couldn't eat it. For a restaurant that has such good reputation and clear potential to be great, I was disappointed mostly due to the service. I was clearly an unsatisfied customer left half hungry, but nothing was offered apart from keep trying to justify what the chef did. Clearly the management didn't care about my custom as they know I won't be back probably. But I feel i should warn other English speaking only potential client to be careful what you order. Fraîchement rentré d'un dîner fort incroyable, je ne sais par où commencer. De A à Z, c'était irréprochable. Commençons par le service, très agréable, dans une ambiance décontractée avec des serveurs très sympathiques. A l'apéritif', un gin to' qui passe crème avec le choix du gin et du tonic. Ensuite, des entrées folles, une mention spéciale pour le mini burger avec sa compote poire/tonka sublime que j'aurai pu manger sur un toast à l'apéritif, en entrée, en accompagnement avec ma pintade, en condiment avec mon fromage, en dessert et en mignardise avec mon café. Pour le plat une très bonne ballottine de pintade servie avec un jus fantastique. Tout ça suivi d'un assortiment de 6 fromages somptueux dont un Pont l’évêque des plus incroyables. Ravie de cette première expérience au Casse-Cailloux ! Mon fils m'a invitée pour mon anniversaire et ce fut un régal pour nos yeux et nos papilles ! Nous avons préféré déjeuner à l'intérieur, plutôt que dans le patio à cause de la chaleur et nous n'avons pas regretté, car la salle bien décorée et l'ambiance sur fond musical sont fort agréables. L'accueil fut très chaleureux et la patronne, qui nous a très bien conseillé les vins en accord avec les mets, était "aux petits soins" pour ses clients (ce qui fait toujours plaisir quand on fête ses 50 ans !) De plus, ce restaurant a une carte d'un très bon rapport qualité-prix, avec un nombre limité de plats qui garantit des produits frais et qui permet d'apprécier des mets délicieux bien assaisonnés et parfaitement cuits, bravo au chef !
