L'Epicerie Gourmande L&T — Restaurant in Tours

We were delighted that we chose Epicerie Gourande over a regular budget hotel for our one night stop over. We were a family of 4 with a baby, travelling in August 2014.||||The accommodation is delightful, perfectly clean and well decorated, with an olde world traditional french ambience. The main double bedroom, adjoining small lounge area and bathroom are in the roof on the 2nd floor with wooden beams. The additional bedroom (2 beds) and breakfast room are on the first floor, all above the shop / bar.||||The (wine) shop and bar are fairly small and very quiet, they do not intrude on your stay.||The breakfast of fruit juice and bread with preserves, and tea / coffee, was served at a time of our choice.||||Any down sides? - when we were there the bathroom didn't have a door fitted, and the internal staircase would be difficult for the elderly, but that was all.||||A really enjoyable stay, no hesitation in...

We stayed one night. The hostess was welcoming and very tolerant of my poor French. She had some English but made a great effort to communicate with us. The room was spacious but had a beam running down the middle which made walking on one side of the beam difficult for DH. The bathroom door was a curtain, the shower was a hand held in a tub that you could not stand up in. There was a skylight with a beautiful view of the stars. The room was quiet. I think Villandry is quiet at night. Breakfast was very good with yogurt, jams and crepes. Our bikes were safely stored in a locked courtyard. Wifi was not great. We went to the restaurant and had wine while we checked mail. This may be a problem in...
