La Scaleta Restaurant Pizzeria — Restaurant in Tours

UPDATED AFTER SECOND VISIT. NOW 5 STAR FOR ATMOSPHERE

Visited for a second time all exceptional no smoke drifting around .. 😁 so I've reviewed my stars for m a single 1 to a 5 for atmosphere.. so full marks .

ON 1ST VISIT... ONLY 1STAR FOR ATMOSPHERE The restaurant is very good. Lovely food great service friendly staff. 100% great. However on the potentially beautiful shaded terrace we found a truly disappointing atmosphere due entirely to people continuously smoking and the smoke spoilt the taste of food and the atmosphere, the people with children on the next table were also very annoyed by the smoke wafting onto their children constantly. May I suggest a policy of asking smokers to go to a dedicated area for smoking away from other customers. I am an x Smoker and NEVER smoked in public areas and always walked to a quiet spot away from others to have a cigarette. It's not a problem for most reasonable members of society. We went to the Scaleta on two consecutive nights in July 2022; both meals were nothing short of outstanding.

We are both vegetarian and the choice was sufficently varied and had some great healthy options. Would recommend the mozzarella starter and for main course the quality of the ravioli was brilliant and the vegetarian pizza was literally the best pizza we have ever had.

Wine was great value and available in smaller portions than a full bottle, though would have loved to have seen some more local wines to try.

The service was friendly, efficient and charming.

Overall, 5 stars is an under-estimate. This is the most lovely, fabulously under-stated but superlative restaurant we have been to in years. If we lived locally, we would be very regular...

We called in just before 9pm. The restaurant closes at 10pm. Plenty of tables were available both inside and outside. We just wanted to have a glass of wine and choose a dessert, one of the set Coup de Glace, or as we would say an ice cream sundae. For some bizarre reason that was not possible. Really? You turned down 30 to 40 Euros worth of business for what? It would have been the simplest of orders? It would have taken no effort and yet, for reasons best known to those who manage this establishment that was pas possible! Get real people this is 2019 and such obstinacy belongs in another era!
