As a Turkish person, I was truly excited to try out Güllü Lahmacun. It's definitely overrated.
I tried lahmacun, gözleme with minced meat and sarma (filled grape leaves). Lahmacun was passable; I ate way better ones in Germany. They didn't give any parsley/onions with it, which is the usual complementary side. They gave lime instead of lemons, which is also not authentic (it's not like you cannot find lemons?).
Gözleme didn't taste like a traditional gözleme; it didn't have the buttery, toasty flavour to it. The dough wasn't right either.
Lastly, the sarma; which also was not authentic. I was weirded out when they asked if I wanted yoghurt with it, because we don't eat the olive oil/vegan version with yoghurt. Once I tasted it I realized why it needed it. We don't put tomato in the vegan sarma. This one tastes as if they were going to cook the meat version (which is traditionally eaten with yoghurt), but suddenly realized that they didn't have meat, so they just served without it. There was no olive oil taste, so it was probably cooked with sunflower or vegetable oil, which made it heavier. The original one is also served cold, not warm. Such a shame, because the leaves were nice and thin.
The worker also tried to charge me the double amount. I doubt it was unintentional; t's not like 2 people could casually eat 6 lahmacuns plus 2 gözlemes.
Great disappointment. It's not bad, but it's not authentic Turkish food. Will...
Read morePlease do not support bad customer service and don’t visit this place! Unless you know Turkish you have no chance in this place. The very limited menu is confusing but don’t count on anyone explaining your options to you. I was initially ignored, then made to feel stupid for asking questions, then ignored again when the cooked simply started serving another person. And when I asked why am I being treated like this I was told that I’m not thinking straight (Du denkst nicht richtig). At which point I just left. Read moreAnother Berlin Food Stories recommendation that has been on my list for a while. I love it when I dive into areas of Berlin where I usually am not at home and this meal will be my association with the area. 😁 I wish I could have kept watching the lady preparing the Lahmacun from scratch. Just that she started preparing to roll out the dough right in front of me triggered my appetite even more! 🤤 As always when I explore a new place, I had a hard time making my selection as I want to try it all: We ended up with Mani,Lahmacun...
