My girlfriend and I were staying just up the road at the castle and decided to walk down to the biergarten we saw on our drive up. It was hardly peak season and Colmberg isn't a big town, so as we walked up, we weren't sure they were open. We opened the door and there was a man there so we asked if they were open for lunch, he said they were and showed us to a table. We were the only people there and were a bit worried at first that we shouldn't be there, but that was quickly laid to rest. We decided to split a schnitzel since it was late in the day and we didn't want to ruin our appetite for dinner. I feel comfortable saying it was the best schnitzel I've ever had!||We washed it down with a few delicious beers and after an hour or two were on our way with an incredibly reasonable bill. ||If we had been in the area longer, I could see us coming...

We actually live in Colmberg and have eaten at the restaurant several times. The food is always really good, and they have a few options beyond the typical Bavarian pork and potatoes, for example, a nice salad plate with turkey and seasonal spargel (asparagus) menu. The food is great value and always fresh! ||||We stayed at the B&B one night (electricity was out at our house), and the rooms are spacious (especially for Europe), clean, modernized, and well-appointed. The innkeeper is very welcoming and speaks fairly good English. We've stayed at a lot of such places around Germany and Austria and this is really the best value...
