It was our last day in Farchant and we wanted to have a cozy ending of our time there. Google said that Pizzeria Vesuvio was the only place open till 23.00, so we went there. Just so that we wouldnt feel the pressure of time.
Our conclusion (read on for the explanation): They advertise on the main street to have dinner there. Dont go. Its probably for lost locals. But they dont like tourists. The prosecco was good tho!
In short:
The pizza was basic. Not expensive, but basic. Cheese, some tomatoes, some sliced paprika, 6 Olives and a few slices of salami (we had the Vesuvio Special). The dough was partly unbaked. In guy humor: it could have used a blue pill. The waiter missed one of our orders: the bruchetta as starters. So all we had was the play-dough pizza.
The waiter (there was a woman behind the counter too and a chef in the kitchen), but the waiter welcomed us. He was a happy guy when we came in and ordered the most expensive prosecco on the menu (27eu a bottle) becouse we always open with a bubble. He spoke fast german with italian improvisations. But, as we figured, once he discovered we were tourists he showed no attention to us anymore. Locals got regular visits at their table, but even when standing near us, he wouldnt look. We had to walk to the woman at the desk to pay (after beeing without food or drinks for 30 minutes. There were about 3 other tables occupied when we were there). When leaving she said bye as she was walking away. The waiter said ciao when turning his back to us (no people there) and the chef stopped talking.
there were good paintings on the wall. It had everything to have a good local experience. Its a shame they didnt make...
This place has the best Italian food in Germany that I have eaten. My wife and I visit this area of Germany many times and I make it a point to eat here at least 2 or 3 times. Not only is the the food great, it is served directly from the kitchen while it is still hot. The good food would be reason enough to visit, but add in the warm greeting and hospitality, and the charming dinning room and you have a wonderful experience. The staff speaks limited English, but that was not at all a problem. The menu had English as well as German descriptions. As with most German restaurants, it was spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. The lovely couple who own the place are from...
Read moreI had the pleasure of hearing dinner at this pizzeria and I must say that it was an authentic experience! The pizza was simply spectacular;light fragrant dough and quality ingredients that recall the true flavours of Naples. But beyond the pizza, what struck me was the atmosphere:a contrast coming and going of pizzas coming out of the oven, quick and courteous staff, and that mix of frenzy and warmth tropical of Neapolitan pizzerias. You can breathe Naples in every detail! Congratulations,I will...
