Pfannkuchenhaus Fehmarn — Restaurant in Fehmarn

This is a small, friendly family-run restaurant/hotel. We as a family stayed one night in the large family apartment on the top floor. It's a tasteful, welcoming loft conversion with two bedrooms and a living area in the middle. (No kitchen). Not super spacious, but well planned. A Nespresso machine and some coffee capsules was a nice touch. Surprisingly good bathroom (for a loft room) with both shower and bath - good for kids.||||The main issue (at least on a hot summer night) is that - as you'd expect for a loft room - it's very hot necessitating open windows, and the area outside was noisier than we expected, even relatively late at night - with surprisingly heavy traffic (including heavy vehicles) and plenty of noise from well-refreshed passers-by. Plus, open windows without protection means mosquitoes.||||The apartment was also let down by somewhat cheap furnishing (almost entirely IKEA, and not their most expensive range). Beds in the first bedroom were OK, but the mattresses in the second bedroom were cheap, hard and uncomfortable (when you can feel the springs, it's not good). Hard to follow the logic of doing a nice loft conversion then skimping a few Euros on mattresses.||||One thing to be aware of, if having young children, is that the windows are high (3 floors up) and have no child protection. Probably not a big issue with the roof windows (if the child is big enough to climb up to them, they are probably old enough to know not to try to climb out), but there is one window in the main bedroom which opens fully to the side of the building (with a long direct drop to the ground) and is readily accessible by a child climbing on the table positioned next to it.||||The restaurant and accompanying breakfast have a definite 80s feel. Perfectly adequate, but nothing special. Friendly service, but cheap bread rolls, tired-looking fruit and lots of things in small plastic sachets. Due to arriving late, we didn't have dinner there but were a little surprised that no pancakes were offered for breakfast (at the Pancake House!) - although one was made on request (without additional charge).||||In summary, OK but considering the overall standard, rather on the pricey side at €170 for one night, even for a family. If I was passing through again and didn't particularly need to stay central in Burg, I'd look for something a bit further out that was...

Pfannkuchenhaus: Wir können die 1 Sterne Bewertungen gut verstehen und bestätigen. Süße und pikante Pfannkuchen haben geschmeckt, dass war aber auch schon alles – vermutlich tatsächlich aus der Tüte zubereitet. Der Preis dafür, zu hoch! Touristenort hin oder her, wir sind hier nicht auf Sylt. Das Pfannkuchen Haus wirbt mit „Erlebnisgastronomie“ (danke an Wikipedia® für den Text!) „Unter dem Begriff Erlebnisgastronomie versteht man gastronomische Konzepte, bei denen den Gästen nicht nur Essen, Trinken und Bewirtung, sondern zusätzliche Unterhaltung angeboten wird, sei es etwa durch eine Bühnenvorführung, Animation direkt am Tisch, Zuschauen bei der Essenszubereitung, Einbeziehung der Gäste in die Essenszubereitung, eine außergewöhnliche Inneneinrichtung, die mit dem Speisenangebot abgestimmt sein kann (Themenrestaurants), oder durch einen ungewöhnlichen Standort (Turmrestaurants).“ Von alledem ist hier nichts, aber auch gar nichts zu finden! Gut - Filzstifte an wohl jedem Tisch und die Speisekarte die auch als Platzdeckchen dient mit einer Mahl-, und Spielevorlagen auf der Rückseite – ganz weit weg von Erlebnisgastronomie! Einzig der Service und die hier schon mehrfach erwähnte, ältere Bedienung, waren tatsächlich ein „Erlebnis“, auf das wir allerdings gerne verzichtet hätte. Getränkebestellung: Wasser mit Gas bestellt, Wasser ohne bekommen. OK da habe ich drüber weggesehen. Am Nachbartisch war es deutlich heftiger. Bier groß bestellt, Radler bekommen, reklamiert, wieder ein Radler bekommen. Essen: Fragen zum Gericht wurden gut beantwortet, Bestellung wurde richtig ausgeführt. (Qualität siehe Oben) Zwei Servicekräfte eine junge Frau und ein junger Mann, leider der deutschen Sprache nicht genug mächtig für einen Service am Tisch, waren bemüht, aber das reicht nicht bei den Preisen! Offenbar ist auch die Einarbeitung wohl eher rudimentär gewesen, denn es wurde dann ohne große Frage einfach mal abgeräumt… auch mein Wasser. Die Servicekraft (junger Mann) stellte auf meine Ansage hin das Glas auch wieder ab, aber das konnte ich so nicht zurücknehmen, da er es am oberen Trinkrand angefasst hatte. Es ging etwas hin und her, dann hatte er verstanden und brachte mir ein kleines Wasser mit Gas… auch OK. Doch dann lief die schon mehrfach erwähnte ältere Bedienung am Nachbartisch auf, mit meinem Wasserglas, und forderte lautstark Aufklärung. Wir erinnern uns die waren das mit dem Bier und dem Radler… Die beiden jungen Servicekräfte können sicher am wenigsten für dieses „Erlebnis“ Wenn sie nicht die grundlegendsten Regeln beigebracht bekommen für den Service am Tisch mit Gästen. Und NEIN das hat nichts mit Fachkräftemangel zu tun, sondern mit dem Unvermögen der Betreiber und der Mitarbeiter zu tun. Die Rechnung bitte: Die kam dann auch in angemessener Zeit. Leider war die schon mehrfach erwähnte ältere Bedienung nicht in der Lage passendes Rückgeld zu geben (20 Cent). Selbst an der Theke, wo sie extra noch nachsehen gegangen ist, waren keine 20 Cent aufzutreiben. Da ich aber keinerlei Anstalten machte ihr aus der Situation zu helfen gab sie dann hat 50 Cent Rückgeld, nicht aber ohne einen Spruch dazulassen: „…jetzt müsse sie schon als Bedienung noch Trinkgeld geben…“ Da hatte wohl jemand einen schlechten Tag oder war das doch unverschämz? Um das Pfannkuchen Haus nicht in die Insolvenz zu treiben habe ich natürlich 20 Cent auf dem Tisch liegen gelassen, jetzt können sie wieder passen herausgeben, in der Erlebnisgastronomie Pfannkuchen Haus. Auf eine Antwort auf meine Rezension bin ich nicht wirklich gespannt… spart euch die Zeit und Investiert in eure Servicemitarbeiter damit die Arbeit am Tisch mit Gästen auch wirklich ein...
