I write this review only as a tourist for other tourists. Service: My German is poor and they were very kind about it. Gave me an English menu and never got frustrated with me. Sat me at a table with some people as they could tell I probably wasn't aware the tables were communal. The man at the bar told me how to eat my Handkasse like a local. Atmosphere: I'm no expert, but this place felt very authentic. Big with lots of seating, including outdoors. Cider coming out of a tap. Customers who came in greeted other diners at tables so it felt like a lot of locals. Location is amazing too if you are just coming out of Frankfurt city forest. Food: I had the handkase mit musik and the grüne Soße which are the Frankfurt specific dishes I was planning on trying. They were great, but I have nothing to compare them too. All the food coming out of the kitchen looked delicious. All in all, I'd highly recommend this place if you are looking to get out...

The dining hall was packed, and the restaurant gave off a vibe that it’s visited more by locals than tourists. That said, any concerns were allayed. We were very quickly greeted with warm service and offered an English menu.
Everything else that evening went by in a flash, but we left feeling stuffed and content. The food was excellent, and I really, really liked the “Holly” beverage—even more, actually, than the...
Read moreBuchscheer is one of the oldest traditional Frankfurt restaurants. They press their own apple wine (pronounced „apple voi“). They have outside seating in the summer months and inside seating when it is wet or cold. I recommend their typical Frankfurt dishes.
My personal favorite is the grille „Rippchen mit Sauerkraut und Püree“ - a grilled pork entrecôte with pickled cabbage and mashed potatoes. Apple wine is ordered in a Stein pitcher and it’s best enjoyed with a good dash of sparkling water. It’s super refreshing!! And if you are looking for a typical nightcap, the order a „Mispelchen“. It is Calvados with a medlar (a fruit that tastes sweet and similar to a...
