Our room in this attractive old building was of reasonable size and had two big windows that looked out onto a quiet back street. The cost was reasonable: The regular price for a twin room with breakfast was 56 Euro per night, but by staying seven nights we got one night free, so we paid only 336 for the week plus 26.60 tourist tax = 362.60 total. That price also included the great bonus of two free weekly passes on the tram linking Friedrichroda to all of the nearby towns as well as the city of Gotha.||Unfortunately, two factors made our stay unsatisfactory. First, the pressure and temperature of the shower fluctuated wildly, making it difficult to bathe in the cramped shower stall. Second, the management was exceedingly stingy with the heat, turning it on only for about one hour beginning at 7:00 am and then for another hour at around 5:00 pm. Consequently, our room was chilly much of the time, and the supposed-to-be-heated towel rack in the bathroom was useless for...

Ich habe das Lokal über Pfingsten zweimal jeweils zum Abendessen besucht. Am Samstag kam ich kurz vor der offiziellen Öffnungszeit um 18.00 Uhr an und fand das Lokal schon gut besucht vor. Ich bekam trotzdem problemlos auch ohne Vorreservierung einen Tisch, einige andere Tische waren reserviert. Das Bedienpersonal war sehr freundlich, das Lokal ist als gemütlich zu bezeichnen. Die Karte lässt eigentlich keine Wünsche offen. Mein Aufenthalt dauerte insgesamt eine Stunde. Mein Essen (Brauhauspfännchen) und das Bier (Schackobräu Urbier) waren ausgezeichnet, die Wartezeit und die Preise waren angemessen. Am Sonntag kam ich gegen 17.45 Uhr zum Lokal und musste ein paar Minuten bis zum Öffnen warten. Der Wirt beschied mir beim Öffnen, daß das Lokal an diesem Abend eigentlich ausgebucht sei. Er bot mir dennoch einen Platz an einem, erst ab 19.45 Uhr reservierten, Tisch an, da ich Einzelperson bin und nur zum Essen gekommen war. Dieser aus 3 Einzeltischen zusammen gestellte, reservierte Tisch bot zusätzlich einer 6 Personen zählenden Familie mit Kindern Platz. Der Platz hätte auch noch für weitere Personen ausgereicht. Tatsächlich füllte sich das Lokal inzwischen schnell mit weiteren Gästen, für die wohl Reservierungen vorgelegen haben. Da ich selbst nicht unnötig lange den eigentlich reservierten Tisch in Anspruch nehmen wollte, bestellte ich relativ schnell aus der mir bereits vom Vortag bekannten Karte mein Essen (Schnitzel Jäger Art) und dazu ein Urbier. Gewohnt schnell wurde es serviert und so konnte ich bereits um 18.30 Uhr das Lokal wieder verlassen. Preis und Leistung waren auch bei diesem Besuch in Ordnung. Ich werde das Brauhaus bei einem künftigen Besuch wieder aufsuchen. Wenn man mit mehreren Personen kommt scheint eine Vorreservierung allerdings sinnvoll zu sein. Das spricht in meinen Augen eigentlich schon selbst für die Qualität des Lokals. Neuer Besuch am 21. Mai 2022: Ich komme immer wieder gerne hier her. Aber heute war mir das Bier "nicht kalt genug".
