Restaurant Dorfchalet — Restaurant in GVV Hexental

We were in town for a family weekend getaway with our parents, and came here to celebrate my sister’s birthday. We were looking for a place with a cozy atmosphere and authentic regional cuisine—and this spot delivered on all fronts!

Booking a table was super easy through Google Maps. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed. The staff was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. The restaurant has a lovely wooden decor that gives it a charming and intimate feel.

The menu offered a great selection—enough variety without being overwhelming—and everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The prices were very reasonable, especially given the quality of the food and service.

The team even brought out the dessert with a candle for the birthday celebration, which added a really sweet and personal touch. It was a relaxed, joyful evening—exactly what we were hoping for on our last night in the area.

Fantastic experience with both the atmosphere and the food. The outdoor seating was lovely, and the warm wooden interior made it feel especially cozy. The pumpkin soup with ginger was hands down the best I’ve ever had, perfectly spiced and every spoon was heaven. The steak fillets were full of flavor, and the fresh salad came with a deliciously balanced dressing.

A special mention for the Black Forest cake: it was exactly how I love it: authentically made with Cherries and Kirschwasser, with thick layers of cake, minimal cream in between, and low sugar. Service was friendly, quick, and very polite. Thanks for a wonderful dining...

Als nicht ortskundige Schwarzwald-Urlauber haben wir uns auf der Rückfahrt vom Steinwasenpark in Oberried zurück in unser Hotel "ein wenig" verfahren und landeten eher zufällig im Restaurant Dorfchalet in Horben.

Das mit dem „Chalet“ im Restaurantnamen haben wir zu Beginn gar nicht wirklich mit etwas assoziiert. War uns zu diesem Zeitpunkt aber auch nicht wichtig, da das Kind im Schlepptau Hunger und Durst verkündete – also kehrten wir im Restaurant Dorfchalet ein, welches uns charmant im klassischen Schwarzwald-Kneipenstil empfing. Man muss es mögen - Ich finde es niedlich und es passt in die ländliche Umgebung. Der Außenbereich ist schön zum Entspannen – nur die Stühle sind etwas unbequem.

Wir wurden herzlich begrüßt, die Getränke kamen prompt und die kleingehaltene Speisekarte machte die Auswahl leicht. Erfreulicherweise gibt es auch ein kleines Speisenangebot für Vegetarier/Veganer. Mein Sohn und ich waren zufrieden mit unserem vegetarischen Flammkuchen, Käsespätzlen und dem gemischten Beilagensalat, der gut zu den Käsespätzle gepasst hat.

Die Fleischesser unter uns waren ebenfalls zufrieden, vor allem wohl mit der „Qualität des Fleisches“ (kann ich nicht beurteilen). Oma ist jedoch der Meinung, dass die Sauce wohl ein Fertigprodukt sei und die Qualität des Fleisches darunter leiden würde (?).

Dessert war super – Der gebackene Quarkknödel und der Schokovulkan haben meinen Sohn und mich richtig glücklich gemacht.

Wir würden definitiv wieder einkehren und das Fondue...
