The food was delicious. We ordered a Pasta with spinachs and Ribs. And Marzipan and Friesen cake. I loved the freshness of the ingredients. The vegetables were very delicious. Although, I would have liked to have a pasta a little bit more al dente. The sauce of the ribs was awesome. The preparation of the meat was fine. But it can be improved, it's not related to the preparation of the meat, I think it's more of the quality of it. The cakes were awesome.
It is quite expensive. The cheapest main dish is about 18€. But it's a quality / price thing. So having that in mind, I can recommend it.
My main complaint is the following: We ordered the check and had to wait about one hour and half for finally getting it. We saw other customers arriving and then leaving, but we didn't get the check, we had to ask for it to 2 other employees, so finally we got it. While paying, the system didn't work and we were unable of paying with card.
At the end we were again hungry and we had to go to somewhere else to have...
Read moreI have eaten many times at Odin's over the years when I visit my family in Schleswig but finally lost my motivation to go back. The restaurant has a great location next to Haithabu, and especially the garden with access to the Schlei is lovely during the warmer months.
Food is mainly prepared from local produce, generally reliable, but never great. My favorite would be the Matjes nach Hausfrauenart - below in the picture. The menu has minimal options, culinarily speaking boring. Prices are on the high side for what they serve.
A real let-down is the service that makes a well-rounded experience almost impossible at the restaurant. Odins seems to have frequently changing nonskilled waitresses/waiters who lack basic attitude. We almost walked out last time after sitting around unattended for more than 15 minutes.
This place could be so much more than what it currently is. A much better choice in Schleswig is Hotel Waldschloesschen, which has food in a completely different league at the...
Read moreOdins is a surprisingly nice restaurant right outside the Haddeby viking museum. My friends and I stopped for lunch after visiting the living history viking museum and were delighted with the quality of the food, service and upscale casual ambiance. I ordered a local German red wine to start. They also allow you to order small portions of the entrée items on their menu; so you can sample this or that. I took full advantage by ordering the spinach knoddel and the meatballs. My husband ordered the goulash. Our friends ordered the local soup and pizza. We enjoyed everything, though the meatballs were definitely our favorite. We also tried the cream pie made with local fruit. It was so good. The cream was light and yummy. The staff was very kind and accommodated our questions. The menu is only available in German, but luckily our friends translated for us. We would definitely comeback again in the future....
