Gasthof zum Klostergarten — Restaurant in Heidelberg

I seldom write reviews but since I was born and raised in Frankfurt and have a daughter and granddaughter in Heidelberg I thought it was worth writing a review. We're here visiting family annually and love visiting this fine establishment. The food, atmosphere and beer are some of the very best we've had across Germany. Very traditional dishes and local specialties. Potato dumplings are excellent and children will love the spazelle. Hubby loves their beer and he's very picky. The location is just outside the main marketplace of old Heidelberg. Lovely views of the Nectar River and Heidelberg. There are many choices here but we come 3 plus times a week so hopefully that's internalized to mean it's really good. Indoor and outdoor dining, children can play, pers are welcome. Meriam offers wonderful service. Shes been here for many years on our annual visits. If you don't fall in love with this place, feel free to reach out and tell me why. My review is about the service because we never got to try their beers or food. We were a group of 11 but we sat at separate tables on July 2, 2023. The waitress was exceptionally rude and couldn't even get her hand-held ordering device to work to take a single table beer order then she rolled her eyes when one of the tables in our group said they would also like to put in a beer order. I remember she had heavy drawn-on eyebrows so perhaps you can avoid this waitress. We had planned to have lunch and drinks and had just finished hiking there so we were very disappointed to get such a negative reception.
