This was the perfect location for our stay in Germany - about halfway between the larger cities of Mainz and Trier. Despite our doubts of a hotel set in the countryside, we were awestruck when we opened the door to our room. The suite was very spacious and modern, and the views were spectacular from the window and balcony. The room was also very clean and bottled water was left on a tray with 2 glasses for us.||We had breakfast in the restaurant downstairs and it was a good variety of meats, cheeses, breads, eggs, and cereal. ||Our main reason for giving this hotel 4 instead of 5 stars was the impaired technology. A list of TV channels would have been helpful because we looked thru several hundred before finding an English channel. We also had a card for phone calls but the telephone in the room had static and was inoperable.||If you come here purely for an escape from the world, the technology won't matter. Read moreWe always stay there on our way to the Netherlands Why?||Because it is in beautiful surroundings (near Idar Oberstein south Germany close to the river Mozel) were you can hike for hours if you wish. It is a very small village where there is nothing else except this hotel-restaurant.||It is also very calm although it is situated near a road but without much traffic.||And then you have the good German no " frills" kitchen meaning tasty food in their nice and cozy restaurant with kind service and good German wine and all that for a very reasonable price. They do have an extensive menu and wine list.||The rooms are beautiful, modern and they all have a furnished balcony with a view on the meadows and trees .The beds are perfect for us we slept like logs and then the rain shower: also perfect.||Reception is kind but professional nothing more...
