Kentucky Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Lübeck

I've unfortunately had KFC in four countries now, and I can confidently say this KFC is the worst one I've ever visited.

You always take risks with fast food. Fast food is terrible for you and almost always terriblly unenjoyable, and should really only be bought as a last resort. However, when you're out of options, KFC can sometimes actually provide surprisingly adequate chicken pieces with real flavor. At least, these have been my previous experiences with the chain.

This Lübeck KFC franchise must have the most uncaring and laziest owner of any franchise restaurant I've ever encountered. The firs time I went was so demoralizingly horrible that I swore I would never spend money there again. The chicken pieces were shabby and the restaurant was beyond dirty. I left with a terrible feeling in my stomach, not from the emaciated chicken pieces, but from the fact that I willingly spent 10 euros for the experience.

Fast forward 2 years and, after having a wonderful KFC experience in Prag 2 weeks before, I thought I might tickle my curiosity and see if the local Lübeck KFC really was so bad or if had merely exaggerated the situation after repeating my experiences to friends. I foolishly decided to try out the drive-thru, not daring to sit down in the dreck that is the indoor eating area.

I was frist surprised to find the menu was at least 3x smaller than the menu in Prag. Not a big issue, it is just different arrangements of chicken after all, but still I was disapointed. I ordered a box and a chicken burger. I received the bag in the drive thru window and drove home.

Upon arrival not 3 minutes later, I opened the box to find the soggiest and wimpiest of chicken pieces facing me. The wings had no meat and the 'crispys' were a sickish yellow, not at all like the fat wing, ample with amber orange hue wings found in the Prag franchise. The burger I ordered was simply not included in the order. I wanted to go back and get the burger only to find no receipt had been included in the bag, effectively preventing me from being able to prove i had ordered the burger in the first place.

Sad and defeated, I ate my flavorless and soggy chicken bits and pieces. Nice 20€ for the experience.

This is the worst restaurant, let alone dining experience in all of Lübeck. Do not come here. The owner is obviously terrible and I hope he/she reads this message and know that Mike Lawrence thinks he/she is awful. Sure they don't care either way and more power to them.

some if you may ask why i’ve rated this restaurant as bad as i did. matter of fact i would even rate it worse if i could, however i’ll make the effort to explain my opinion for everyone to follow. first of all, the service was horrible, the worker who i was paying at, couldn’t even do his own job, he asked his partner almost 10 times how to operate a cash register and couldn’t do it on his own anyway, second the “manager” was extremely rude and wouldn’t tell his customers nicely that they’re supposed to get their food temselves, and last and most important part of my opinion was the food itself, it was dry and just disgusting. i ordered mashed potatoes and hot wings, and the quality has decreased drastically. i’ve literally never eaten such disgusting and bland food in my life. i’m sorry, but i’m never eating there ever again. hope y’all don’t make the...

Fangen wir mit dem positiven an, denn davon gibt es leider nicht sehr viel zu berichten. Positiv war auf jeden Fall, dass das Bestellterminal einwandfrei funktionierte. Außerdem war es nett, dass es weihnachtlich geschmückt war. Die Herrentoilette wirkte auf den ersten Blick recht sauber, wobei ich aber die Vermutung habe, dass dies nur sehr oberflächlich zu betrachten war, denn...

Der Boden war überall, besonders aber auf der Toilette, extrem fettig, weshalb er auch sehr rutschig, und damit gefährlich, war. Nach dem Toilettengang, bzw. nach dem Hände waschen, benutzte ich den Handtrockner, welcher extrem stank. Auch die Hände rochen danach noch nach der stinkenden Luft. Ich hatte das Glück zu sehen, wie ein Mitarbeiter einen, bzw einen halben Tisch sauber machte. Wobei ich mir nicht sicher bin, ob das wirklich Glück ist. Denn nicht nur, dass die zweite Hälfte des Tisches es wohl nicht verdient hatte, geputzt zu werden, wurde auch das selbe Tuch für Tisch und Sitzbänke benutzt. Natürlich wurde dieses Tuch zwischendurch auch nicht ausgespült, geschweige denn gewechselt. Jetzt könnte man natürlich denken "toll dann bekomme ich Essensreste auf meine Kleidung". Aber diese Gefahr bestand in dem Fall nicht, da der Mitarbeiter erst die Sitzbank und erst dann den halben Tisch abwischte...

Kommen wir zum Essen. Ich hatte das Menü 1, welches einen Burger, eine Pommes mit Mayo und ein Getränk enthielt. Gut war, dass die Pepsi kühl wahr aber nicht zu kalt und es gab keine nervigen Eisstücke. Auch die Salatsauce von Heinz war ok. Die Pommes war aber deutlich zu weich (Haken wir aber zu Gunsten des Ladens als Geschmackssache ab) und vor allem nicht zuende frittiert. Teilweise waren die Stäbchen noch roh! Gesalzen waren sie ok.

Der Burger.... Ja was soll ich über den Burger sagen? Da ich mich nicht wirklich mit KFC auskenne, dachte ich, dass ich den Burger nach original Rezept nehme, denn der ist ja dann quasi so etwas wie das Aushängeschild. Ich hatte den Eindruck, dass das Fleisch einigermaßen frisch war und mir gefiel eine der Saucen, weshalb ich nach dem ersten Biss einen positiven Eindruck hatte. Leider aber nur beim ersten... Denn beim zweiten Biss kam die nächste Sauce, die die erste so dermaßen übertönte und einfach nicht schmeckte, sodass auch leider der Rest vom Burger nur danach schmeckte. Wobei "Rest vom Burger" leider sehr hoch gegriffen ist, da das Fleisch im Vergleich zum Bun einfach deutlich zu klein war.

Fazit: Einmal und nie wieder.

Diesen Gedanken hatte ich vor 20 Jahren in einer anderen Filiale schon mal. Leider hat sich der Eindruck bis heute...
