Food is great, but that doesn’t matter if you can never even get it in the first place.
Today was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I live right down the street from this place, so my wife and I typically like to place a pickup order to enjoy in the comfort of our home. Business hours for The Alamo Eggcited are advertised as 0800-1500 on Saturdays. Today is Saturday. I placed my pickup order at 10:44, it was accepted by the restaurant shortly thereafter, and I was notified it would be ready for pickup in 65 minutes. Absolutely fine, I don’t mind waiting. I walk over to the restaurant 5 minutes before my order should be ready. When I walk in, I’m informed that their kitchen has closed and my order “just didn’t make it through.” This is completely unacceptable. And the sad thing is, I’ve had similar experiences with this place multiple times. If your kitchen is going to close early on a regular basis, change your advertised business hours. If you are short staffed, alter the services you offer to fit your capabilities. And most importantly (for me right now, at least), if your kitchen is not going to prepare an order that you have already accepted— CALL THE CUSTOMER TO NOTIFY THEM. You had my number. It was a required field on the order form. Terrible service. Terrible management. False advertisement. I will not attempt to...
Read moreIt's really hard to judge a place within a few weeks of opening, but I had a really disappointing experience today.
We ordered 4 tacos and were told 20 minutes (for tacos?), which ended up becoming 40 minutes (for TACOS?). 40 minutes is a long time to wait for bland, mushy tacos that underwhelm in every sense of the word. The biggest letdown for me was the potatoes, which were not only unseasoned, but mushy, as if boiled, cooled and chopped. The only redemption for my meal today was the salsa, which wasn't terrible, although to sparce to truly save the dish.
My wait gave me time to notice the small issues - the sloppy layout of the coffee condiments table and haphazardly organized drinks in the fridge, for example. This place has a lot of potential, but they're missing a lot of important details, like putting a trash can in the bathroom (or an easily found lightswitch). Even more importantly, everyone waited 20 minutes, but nobody had a place to sit. We were all left standing awkwardly waiting for our food to inevitably take longer to come out. Overall, it's...
Read moreThis place is ok, some people really like it and others think it's just meh. As a vegan I have to say the options are very lacking, I just had a side of hash browns which one time was underseasoned and the other time overseasoned and too salty. I saw they had the beyond meat as an option on the lunch/ dinner menu but I didn't try it because there wasn't much to pair it with since I don't eat eggs. They could do well with adding a fruit bowl or a tofu scramble to the menu. Also maybe oat/soy or some other sort of milk to make latte/cappuccino with. If you are looking for a normal American breakfast then it will still probably satisfy your itch but there is room to improve. The restaraunt it self is very echoey and loud and pretty plain inside. The server was noticably irritated at customers for asking questions about the menu or other stuff they had available, I think that could be improved as well but I have worked service before and understand sometimes it might just be one...
