Zum Pferdestall — Restaurant in Leipzig

Nice atmosphere inside and outside, which was a nice surprise considering the location in an industrial area not particularly charming. We were treated relatively kindly by the staff even if it was clear that we were only passing by as tourists infact, even if there were different cosy tables free, we were assigned a place near a wine cellar and in the middle of a passageway. The reason was not clear…

The order was dealt with relatively quickly considering the restaurant was not particularly crowded.

Unfortunately towards the end of the meal, when eating the salad, a surprise showed up… a nice and lively insect crawling the leaves…

No special excuses for the “uninvited guest” from neither the staff or the “chef”. Which was surprising, but could be somewhat excused by the language barriers…

More surprisingly, the bill was discounted by the salad, as if nothing happened, or to suggest that the salad was ever served.. In all honesty, one could have expected more care, more excuses and perhaps more discount or, as a simple courtesy, a drink, or a small dessert for the kids or something more than what for us simply meant “I don’t care about you because I will never see you again either way”, which, in the era of Trip Advisor or Google or anything else, a negative opinion does not stay in the circle of clients or friends.

Regrettably that was not the only surprise. On the way back home (several hours by car) the trip was interrupted several times to stop at motorway toilets due to sudden stomach cramps to the three of us eating fried meat (schnitzel and nuggets). The meat could not be discounted from the bill as if “nothing happened this time… and the chef perhaps will never know…

Wir hatten extra einen frühen Tisch reserviert. Als wir ankamen, saßen 2 Gäste auf der Terrasse. Auf Nachfrage, ob wir uns an einen Tisch mit Bank setzen dürfen, wurde uns dies verneint, nur an einen Tisch für zwei. Da wir aus gesundheitlichen Gründen nicht auf den harten Stühlen sitzen können blieb uns dann nur die Möglichkeit bei schönem Wetter im Innenbereich Platz zu nehmen. Wir wurden direkt im Eingangsbereich platziert, obwohl alle anderen Plätze frei waren. Die Dame neben uns am Tisch zählte erst einmal ihre Tageseinnahmen. Obwohl ich meinen Schlemmerblock bereits bei der Bestellung auf den Tisch legte sollte es noch zu einer Überraschung kommen. Trotz kaum gesteigerter Gästezahl, wurde ein älteres Pärchen wieder weggeschickt, diese sollten 1h später kommen. Das bestellte Essen kam ziemlich zügig. Unter Röstzwiebeln stelle ich mir leider etwas anderes vor, das Fleisch war überpfeffert, dafür Bratkartoffeln und Pilze zu fad. Kaum Besteck zur Seite gelegt, wurde das Geschirr vom Tisch geräumt. Ca. 30 min später und nur durch rufen des Servicepersonals kam dieser an den Tisch. Als es um die Bezahling ging und ich dem Servicepersonal mitteilte, das ich einen Gutschein vom Schlemmerblock habe, wurde dieser mir nicht gegen gerechnet. Ich hätte dies sofort mitteilen sollen. Hier stelle ich mir die Frage, das Servicepersonal kann doch den Bon stornieren und erneut eingeben. Oder vertippt sich das Servicepersonal nie? Bekommt ein Gast der einen Gutschein über den Schlemmerblock anderes Essen ? Ich habe keine Chance bekommen, diesen Gutschein einzulösen, obwohl ich sagte, das ich nicht aus der Gegend komme.

Schade, ich selber komme aus der Gastronomie und bin daher sehr enttäuscht. Ich werde leider keine gute Empfehlung aussprechen. Auch würde ich gern den Hinweis geben, das Servicepersonal besser zu schulen, ich hatte mehr das Gefühl weniger arbeiten ist mehr.

What a lovely restaurant this is! We came here today for a birthday dinner with our family and the service was outstanding from the moment we walked in to the very end. They have a wide variety of beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic as well as an extensive wine menu. The selection of food is rather limited, but you will certainly find the right dish for you and they will make sure to accommodate any special requests. The traditional German dishes are to die for and very well presented. Portion sizes are generous. Overall this is definitely a hidden gem on the outskirts of Leipzig and we thoroughly...
