Upon arrival my partner and I were looking for a table in the decently crowded beer garden. No one was coming to assign us a table, so we just walked towards one of the empty tables and then were immediately called by who we assume is the manager and pointed in another direction. His reaction suprised us, as we hadn't even had the chance to sit yet and we were being ordered around from the other side of the terrace.
It was also obvious to us that this restaurant was trying to fill more tables than both the kitchen and the waitstaff could handle, as it took quite a few tries of long eye contact with the staff until a waiter approached us and handed us two menus. We looked around us and saw quite a few tables that had empty glasses for a while and slightly annoyed looks.
We then ordered some drinks and two times the Schnitzel Wiener Art, and after what felt like two minutes, we were each given a salad. The salads (that we didn't order, but we were told they were included/on the house) arrived way before our drinks.
While eating our salads, we noticed the manager (who sent us to our table) shouting at people in the kitchen and then smoking right outside the kitchen door (in front of the guests), while ordering the waitstaff around. Often times when there was an "inconvenient" task, like bringing dirty dishes inside or seating guests, the manager would outsource the task by either pointing aggressively or flat out shouting at the waitstaff.
The drinks arrived and it didn't take long for our food to arrive as well. The entire time we noticed the waitstaff running around trying to serve the obscene amount of guests (around 7-8 tables per waiter) to the best of their abilities, while the manager stood there looking around.
Every time the manager looked like he was helping his staff by clearing the tables, he would leave the plates and glasses somewhere to be picked up by the other waitstaff.
Aside from his extremely disrespectful behaviour towards the hard working waitstaff, he was also rude to customers. He bossed customers around like he did with us, and sometimes completely ignored them or taking a phone call in the middle of conversations with his guests.
The only moments he was polite were when he was giving the bill to customers and when they paid, while expecting a tip and thanking profusely when a tip was given. (So profusely that it could be heard from the other side of the beer garden).
We want to give a well earned shoutout to the waiter that was serving us. He was very friendly and working extremely hard.
As for the food: our Schnitzels were nothing extraordinary, but good for the price. We had a decent meal for about €15 per person, but the one star is entirely due to the...
Read moreThis place is phenomenal! My wife got the schnitzel with spätzle instead of pommes (French fries), and I got a rump steak with potatoes. And let me tell you. This was THE best steak and THE best potatoes I’ve ever had. Period. I don’t know what they put in this stuff but it was mouth-watering and an explosion of perfect flavor. If you are in Germany - especially if you are staying at the Holiday Inn Express nearby - you HAVE to come give this dish a try! My wife’s schnitzel and spätzle were also very good. (I apologize the pictures aren’t very good but the food was...
Read moreThis restaurant is the only one within walking distance of the Holiday Inn Express near Frankfurt Airport, but is worth a stop even if you are not staying there. The food is excellent and the staff is very accommodating (English speaking and will help out with the German menu if needed). Both meals I had there were top notch. Lots of outdoor seating, less indoor seating. Only thing to watch out for is timing as this place is popular and gets very busy for dinner (two tour buses there the first evening I visited). Great experience, definitely...
