*The Asian Explorer Verdict
So we went here to eat and this is my verdict.
The People: Filipino Culture. Friendly and welcoming.
The Price: For the Portion it is ok although maybe for some it might be abit on the pricier side.
The Food: So the Menu, starts at 5pm consist of Filipino rice meals and some limited time offer dessert like Halo Halo ( maybe during this time til wnd of summer) but they only 2 rice meals from their regular menu and 1-2 from their Monthly specials and that's it.
I orderd Lechon Kawali rice. It was juicy in the inside and with crunchy skin. It was good but lacks Identity like its own taste. It has a paired vinegar at side but without it, Lechon won't be lively. I would suggest to put more flavors on the lechon itself. Otherwise it would be boring for the next time.
We also ordered the Laing which is Taro leaves with Coconut. As a Filipino who have grown eating this back then in the Philippines, It is kinda disapponting. The consistency of its coconut wasn't even closed to the normal Laing recipe, and it is somehow diluted with more water than it is cooked longer with coconut milk. I would really suggest to pay attention to cooking it properly, the filipino way.
I also suggest that menu may also offer other dishes like adobo, silog meals, Kare kare or if not other filipino dishes. Kinda disappointed yesterday that we only have up to 4 choices max in the menu. With the taste, Don't be afraid to the right filipino recipe and taste for each dishes. Even authentic Thai restaurants in Germany also do their dishes according to their tradition home come recipe. Germans would love it for sure since I also cooked for my German friends at home and they love Filipino dishes on its natural taste.
Overall: This is a fairly newly opened restaurant so there lots of improvements to do so 3 stars âïžâïžâïž
See you guys on...

Parking situation: a bit difficult, had to drive around a bit but eventually spotted a space to park. Opt for a nearby Parkplatz if you want.
Menu: Lechon Paksiw vs. Beef Pares is the question. đ There are other non-Kanin meals. But the only kanin meals are these two.
We ordered Beef Pares and Bao Bun Chicken with Spicy Mango. Beef Pares soup tastes like Pares, the meat could use some more taste. The Bao Bun is remiscent of Chicken Pastil, i was expecting Spicy but I guess they turn it down to Europaische Scharfđ still good tho. I just wish it was a bit spicier. I dont feel like the Sweet-Chili sauce fits, maybe vinegar garlic would be better as sawsawan.
We trued to order Guyabano Juice, unfortunately it wasn't available.
The ambience feels like your typical local cafe in the Philippines. Before entering, you can hear OPM blasting. And these days, with the heat, the fan inside is reminiscent of Filo Carinderia as well. The place is decorated with Banana trees/plants in every corner.
Would visit again if I'm ever in Mannheim but not from all the way...
Read moreOrdered Lechon Kawali and my friend ordered the Chicken Asado.
Taste: The Asado though was not something we are used to but so it doesnât hit the spot for confort food or taste like home. The Lechon Kawali for me is typical where it doesnt have much taste to offer but is completed by the vinegar. I did love how crispy it was and would be something I want to eat again.
Price & Portion: for the size it struck me as pricey however as someone who cooks and sells food as well I would not mind paying another âŹ3-4 to cover the cost of increasing the meat portion. This way the meat will look about the same size of the rice instead of only half the size. i also prefer chunkier cuts on my lechon Kawali of at least around 2cmx2cm or bigger where i can see the crispy skin next to the other layers. Think of how Lechon Macau is presented/served abroad.
Chicken portion was disappointing for its price. Would be nice to get more meat than 3 chicken wings can offer.
HALo-HALO was the highlight of our visit. It had enough sangkap and it tasted good . This obe definitely hit the...
