Fränkischer Landgasthof Elsavatal — Restaurant in Mespelbrunn (VGem)

Highly recommended!!! Me and my husband were in transit, on the way to UK and stopped here for having some lunch. We searched on Google and chose this place thanks to the convenient location (from the motorway distance point of view) and of course thanks to reviews. We did not stayed overnight, so can’t comment on the rooms conditions , but I can happily do so in terms of food quality and service. We had one jägerschnitzel and one paprikaschitzel both with fries and mixed salad and they were absolutely delicious!! Great service, fast and straightforward. Very polite team members. We paid €41 for this delicious food, 2 pints of beer, one bottle of sparkling water and a coffee. So, great value also 😉 We hope we will be back some day! P.S. Warm welcome and a fantastic meal! We visited in October on the drive from Austria back to the UK and only because the hotel’s restaurant was closed. So glad it was! We were greeted with an excellent dark beer. We both had dinner from the specials which happened to be game. My wild duck was superb and my wife’s wild boar the best we’ve had. The owner, was very friendly and chatted about the area, even bringing us books the flick through. This was great as we had no idea there was a beautiful little chateau practically next door. Herrje....DAS war lecker! Kennt Ihr das? Wenn man so nassgeregnet und durchgefroren nach 2-3 Stunden Spaziergang im Wald irgendwo schön einkehrt? Und die Gaststube mollig warm ist...? Dazu hat man so gar keine Erwartung, dass man noch etwas zu Essen bekommt, weil es schon Samstags halb drei Uhr ist, also die klassische Essenszeit vorbei. Und DANN kommt aber das kulinarische Glockenspiel: die GANZE Speisekarte stand uns zur Verfügung. Und das haben wir leidlich ausgenutzt. Suppe, Knödel, Spätzle, Fleisch. Aaaach...herrlich war's. Und dazu ein kühles Bier. Wir sind dann eine Stunde später satt und zufrieden weitergezogen. Im Wirtshaus Gabis ja noch Kuchen.... lach. Aber dazu mehr in einer anderen Rezension.

Fazit: ich hatte mich schon beim Reingehen in die Tafel mit dem Schriftzug "Fränkische Schäufela" verliebt. Diese bestellte ich auch und verzehrte sie mit Genuss. Schwarte kross, Soße kräftig und das Fleisch zart. Perfekt und auf den Punkt gegart. Dazu klasse Klöße und Rotkohl. Ich werde wiederkommen. Und SIR NESSI auch.
