Amandînes et Chocolats Harlaching — Restaurant in Munich

The espresso macchiato I had did not meet my expectations; The beans seem to be too roasted and not aromatic for my taste, and the milk foam is also average.

Tried their French pastry today. The tarte aux poires and the baguette look yummy, priced respectively at 2.60€ and 3.50€ per piece. The wholegrain croissant is intriguing and worth a try. It has a different flavor than the regular croissant, seemingly with less butter, but despite the use of wholegrain flour, the butter is well incorporated into the dough. However, it's a pity that it has the flavor of a wholegrain bun and not a croissant, partially due to the flaxseeds and sunflower seeds on top. The croissant filled with apricot jam is average also overbaked.

The entrance is via a walkway at the same level as the roadway. There's actually quite a large seating area inside with insightful sea paintings and outside with some tables under the sun. Surprisingly, it wasn't 100% full for a Sunday. They offer lactose-free dairy for coffee drinks for an additional 20 cents.

Amandìnes et Chocolats in Harlaching is a popular neighborhood French bakery serving up traditional French pastries as well as typical Bavarian pretzels (some even with butter). While on previous visits the quality - freshness and taste - of the pastries was always exquisite, this last visit was disappointing. The raspberry tarts looked beat up / damaged, the raisin swirl was dry and hard. The chocolate crème filled eclair was ok and tasted as expected. Unclear if it was the time of day that we visited, which was early afternoon after lunch for the lack of freshness. The inside had several guests including families with young children in strollers and a French tutor (this added a nice touch to the atmosphere). There is outdoor seating as well, which is popular in the summer / warmer months. Hoping this was just an off day for Amandines et Chocolats in Harlaching and that the normally enticing pastries taste and look fabulous on...

Edit: my first experience here wasn’t amazing (I gave 3 stars)but have been back with my girlfriend a few times since and always had a positive experience. Waiting time can be a bit long, but other than that, can’t really complain and I’ve seen improvements since I’ve visited...
