Engel Grill-Bar — Restaurant in Niedernhausen

The hotel is in a relatively quiet neighbourhood (even though you would not think so, being directly above the rail tracks and near the motorway); it is family-run (Engel is the name of the owner) and has a bit of a B&B-feel to it. It also has its own restaurant, one of the highest-rated in the village; note it’s closed Mondays and Tuesdays.||||It has some own parking slots; if they are full, the residential neighbourhood provides sufficient alternatives. As the place it small, call ahead to ensure someone is there to hand over the key to your room; register at the restaurant.||||The interior design could probably be called ‘quirky’, with a combination of modern and old, and each room individually decorated (still pretty new); note there is no elevator. The rooms are spacious, and even include a couch; beds are comfy, also with only one type of pillow (hope you like it…).||||The bathroom is reasonably-sized (although probably too little space for two people to put their toiletries) with a large shower; a hairdryer is provided, as well as sufficient towels and some toiletries.||||The curtains unfortunately do not quite do the job at keeping the light out – this is rather a place for business travellers who have to get up early…||||WiFi works satisfactorily; there is no fridge and no air-conditioning in the room (but of course the rooms have heating).||||Breakfast has a reasonable choice of what Germans consider a proper breakfast (don’t expect a full English breakfast…) – a good deal for the 5 Euros the hotel is asking for it (although for coffee you might want to go where someone has specialised in...

Mooi gerenoveerd hotel waarvan de ruime, nette kamers voorzien zijn van alle comfort: enkele opbergkasten, een zetel, TV met Netflix-toegang, goede matrassen. Ook in de badkamer is alle comfort aanwezig met een grote douche, toilet, lavabo, haardroger, zachte handdoeken, …. ||Ondanks dat je dicht bij de spoorweg en de autostrade zit, hoor je hier -zelfs als ’s nachts het raam open staat - weinig of niks van. Het hotel heeft ook een privé parking. Indien je hier logeert, kom vóór de start van het avondeten. Restaurantklanten maken immers ook gebruik van deze parking en dan kan deze snel vol staan. ||||Het onthaal was zeer warm en die warmte voel je overal in het hotel (aankleding van de kamers voelt heel huiselijk) én de bediening in het restaurant en bij het ontbijt.||||We vroegen bij de reservatie of er een gluten-en lactosevrij ontbijt mogelijk was. We kregen de boodschap dat dit, gezien de lage kostprijs van het ontbijt (5 euro) niet kon worden aangeboden. Zeer begrijpelijk, al was die vrees onterecht. Ondanks dat het ontbijt wat beperkter was gezien de Covid 19 maatregelen, was er ook voor wie gluten-en lactosevrij moet eten voldoende keuze! Een hardgekookt eitje, wat broodjes, ruime schotel aan beleg (kaas, ham, salami, hespenworst, ...), verschillende confituren, Nutella, honing, ... Daarnaast was er ook een keuze aan fruit, wat zoetigheid, ontbijtgranen, ... Een uitgebreid ontbijt dus!||||Reserveer bij je overnachting ook een tafel in het restaurant. Dit is niet zomaar een grillrestaurant en dat uit zich ook in de volle bezetting op weekdagen. Ondanks het ruime aantal tafels, binnen en buiten op het terras, word je hier vlug en zeer vriendelijk bediend. We namen de steak en de pulled pork burger. Het vlees was lekker smaakvol, de garnituur vers en de portie zeer ruim. Neem daarbij de lekkere frietjes en huisgemaakte barbequesaus en je begrijpt waarom dit een next level grill restaurant is. ||||Conclusie: Ondanks dat dit hotel wellicht vaak voor een tussenstop wordt geboekt, voel je toch een warme sfeer in zowel onthaal, de kamer als tijdens het eten. Wat het grillrestaurant betreft, is het voor grill-liefhebbers zelfs een omweg waard! Zowel hotel als restaurant zijn naar...

Never a bad meal. Friendly, kind, and professional staff always with a smile. Plus they speak English, which is helpful. Did I mention the food?? One word - fantastic! ...
